Of course, some indefatigable critics have their own agenda to bring into disrepute key public institutions. There are those who consider that they have a right to break the law in order to make a political point or to ventilate a grievance they might have against the authorities. They are often encouraged by foreigners in the name of human rights. We should be wary of this.
The rule of law means that all persons in Singapore are subject to the law, regardless of their political, ideological or religious affiliations. To allow certain individuals to flout the law is to undermine the very basis of the rule of law. Attacking the judiciary is easy, because judges here traditionally do not engage in public debate. Neither do they answer their critics directly.
Unsubstantiated allegations, even if rebutted, can erode public trust in the administration of justice and shake their confidence in the rule of law. Respect for the law is something that we lose at our peril. Once respect is lost, it will take much time and effort to regain.

2.Let me briefly tell you about my account of repression in Singapore.......
3.The truth is The High Court ruled in their favour after the SDP failed to file its defence.
However, we were prevented from defending ourselves as the Supreme Court of Singapore had found us guilty in what is known as a "Summary Judgement" where the court finds the defendants guilty without even a trial.
4.Chees gave up their defense.So summary judgement came in.
This relaised the predictions of CSJ that LKY would not
go for trial.
5.CSJ planned the drama:
He was sued and accused LKY dared not go for open trial.
He purposely gave up the defense,eg lawyer Ravi
always could not attend trails etc.
The court granted Summary Judgement .
CSJ then tell the world ,''You see LKY prevented us a open trail.
There is no trial in SG'' etc.
What a good drama!!
6.CSJ gave up the chance to cross exam LKY on purpose ,
voluntaily and with hidden agenda.

writes to Chief Justice about summary judgment without presence of defence counsel,8 Mar 07for his trial.

Also wonder if the economy class seats were also empty of passengers just to bring one patient home?
ItÂ’s quite a substantial loss of income even for one way flight, isnÂ’t it?
And why didnÂ’t transfer to private hospital in London when doctors suggested she stay for 3 weeks. Flying is risky for stroke patients. Private hospitals in London too expensive? Or issit treatment in Singapore is paid by the employer as medical benefit?
I remember another occasion when a plane was empty of cargo just to bring 2 giant pandas from China to Washington DC, accompanied by veterinarians, scientists and technicians just to monitor the animalsÂ’ condition during the trip.
But giant pandas are rare and endangered species, so itÂ’s appropriate to accord that kind of VIP treatment but humans are not endangered species leh. -
LKY paid SIA to fly the entire plane back to SG immediately. it is a chartered flight, not your daily SG <> london flight.
the point of contention is, if it was someone else, even with wealth equivalent to that of LKY, would SIA have agreed? -
