  a) Used to be, now not so much.
  
  b) Family, friends, familiar sights, smells and sounds and shared experiences with fellow singaporeans
  
  c) Very little can be done.
  
  - But maybe I'm wishing for a more open society with greater freedom of expression, and more acceptance of different POVs especially in the area of politics.
  
  - I need to feel that I have a say in how the country is run and that my concerns- no matter how small or myopic they may be- are addressed, and not explained away, brushed aside, sidelined by macro/long-term issues.
  
  - I would also like to be assured that my country values citizens' contribution to the economy and society more than the general ah dog ah cat foreigners. I feel a government must first take care of the citizens.
  
  - Also wish for society to be kinder, more gracious, more humble in general.
  
  d) Economically, yes. But whether the environment will be an even better place to live in, that remains to be seen.
  
  e) No. Singapore is too small, too controlled.

  Not at all. I don't even consider myself Singaporean, even with an IC and passport. I never asked to be born here.

  i hope to see a change in the way things are being done here... i want the people to actually have a say in the running of their OWN country. currently, this is not the case as only one group of people's opinions are counted- the people in white.

  if you had asked me this in 1970, i would have said yes. now, nationbuilding years are over, however our country is still harping on nationbuilding strategies. ie, a parliment cannot function properly with opposition members inside because time would have to be spent fixing them.
  My answer is NO. unless we see a change soon. we are moving into a new phase, no more nationbuilding.

  Yes and no. Yes for the progress we have made so far as a country and no for the boarish behaviour some of our countrymen display overseas.

  Good question. Family? Maybe but most of my family are all overseas Friends? Most of my friends are all overseas too

  Favour local talents. Enough of that trash talk about 'No one owes Singapore a living; we must find our own ways to survive and prosper'. Foreign talents don't owe Singapore a living either. Since they are here, they should compete with locals on a level playing field and not rise to the skies under favouritism. Well-deserving schoolmates are denied the opportunity to develop their potential to the fullest in the top class because half of the seats in that class are reserved for foreign scholars. Whoever initiates and supports such favouritism should ask themselves, 'is that fair?' At the end of the day, who runs the government and Singapore as a whole? Obviously not foreign talents, obviously it's Singaporeans at the helm. Who sings the national anthem and recite the Singapore pledge? Singaporeans. Who are the natives on our homeland? Singaporeans. Is there nobody out of the 3 - 4 million Singaporeans who even qualify to represent Singapore in SEA games or olympics, or who can match the foreign players that play in the name of Singapore in SEA games? Obviously not.
  
  An education system that does not breed elitism outright. Nuff said.
  
  Tolerance of dissent. Freedom of expression. Nuff said.
  
  A society with a soul; with empathy and tolerance for fellow citizens. A society without such is merely a direct replicate of a ghost town. It is of great wonder, how a human can live in a society which comprises of cold-blooded 'people'.
  
  A 'Singaporean Singapore'. Fellow citizens as one, regardless or race, language, religion and political parties.
  
  d) Are you confident that Singapore will have a bright future?
  
  The prospects seem dim.
  
  e) Are you confident that your personal aspirations can be fulfilled in Singapore?
  
  Yes. All it takes is some hard work I hope.

  not much actually.. i guess the only thing is that it is where i choose to be.. i've never felt "belonged" to anything in my life, there was a couple of times i felt i did, however, one was fleeting and the other was an illusion..
  
  but ultimately, not out of any sense of belonging, but that i choose this place to be home

  the maturity of the people, where people become less apathetic... and become more involved..

  i'm a simple bear.. one who has both quit and stayed.. i'm not a member of the rat-race but i'm staying in Singapore... to live in happy contentment is a great aspiration much underrated by everyone

  a) No.. with a very self centre gov. Take example; the casinos.
  
  b) Nothing....the basic needs like the public transportation, utilities, medical
  and etc..The gov had turned all these to almost profit steering
  companies. The excuses that the gov gave was...the companies have to be
  answerable to its shareholders. But who are these shareholders?...By
  individuals or personal that own the most shares of these
  companies..? What a hypocritic people they are!
  
  c) Those people who own shares of the public transportation should unload
  their shares and reform it to a genuine public serving organisation...utilites
  should not be overcharged with excessive taxes.
  The rates of charges should be adjusted in accordance to types of housings
  and areas. Afterall, these ''companies'' are making huge profits despite of
  the increase of whatsoever the oil prices. There ought to be a kind of
  balance in the enjoyment by singaporeans so called the ''first world city''
  by means of types of housing or areas where some people enjoy it and
  some people do not enjoy it and yet they are paying the the ''first world''
  rates of charges.
  
  d) Singapore is turning to gambling den. In sport section of Newpaper..it
  taught people how to bet on football matches.
  
  e) No..not under this kind strategies of the present ruling party...where
  they(gov) are so supportive on FT rather than nurture its own people
  so called "staying together and move ahead."
  So money face...they took a pay-cut and wayang for awhile..and when
  there was a slight recoverery in its GLC or GIC businesses..immediately
  the gov re-instated their multi-millions dollars salaries.
  They(gov) had forgotten the people are struggling with paying heavy
  debt on housing loans, utilites, education, daily expenses, raising up their
  children, conservancy charges, medical and etc.
  
  All I can say is........ what a hypocritic leaders that we have!
