I know some of the people the article mentioned.... personally. Many of them in exile now. many in Australia. I think the writer interviewed them, otherwise you know 797, even in Australia, they will try to fix the writer.Originally posted by LazerLordz:If you read up on Operation Coldstore , you might learn more.
Sad huh? As I've said before, those of us who do read up more on alternative viewpoints and actually do care about local socio-political issues get mocked and berated as 'ingrates', 'charlatans', 'riffraff', '(insert profanity here)', etc etc....Originally posted by HENG@:tsk. why try to give singaporeans the truth? they can't handle it. look at some of the replys of dismissal or disbelief here, u'll already know that.
singaporeans always in denial.
no doubt. get called all those if u're lucky. get labelled a traitor, a quitter, if u're unluckyOriginally posted by fudgester:Sad huh? We Singaporeans are screwing ourselves and are too stupid to realise it. Those who actually do realise it are shunned and mocked by the rest.
With all this apathy and narrowmindedness surrounding us, surely we're doomed.![]()
Well, then you would agree it's a tragedy and a shame. Not all of us are ignorant about it, some of us do read up and are more well-informed about the state of things in this land than the others.Originally posted by casino_king:I know some of the people the article mentioned.... personally. I've already been labelled a 'traitor' by some of my peers for questioning the wisdom behind some of the ruling party's policies.Originally posted by HENG@:no doubt. get called all those if u're lucky. get labelled a traitor, a quitter, if u're unlucky
we're doomed. one moron even got the cheek to tell me he is a thinking voter.Originally posted by fudgester:I've already been labelled a 'traitor' by some of my peers for questioning the wisdom behind some of the ruling party's policies.
Oh well. I just find it really sad that Singaporeans don't realise that people are laughing AT us and delude themselves into thinking that they're laughing WITH us.
Forgot to add, they were in Law Society Committee.Originally posted by casino_king:Lawyers, you know. 1st year in practice, trying to do their bit for society. Young, enthusiastic, idealistic. Help the poor by starting legal aid. Join Catholic welfare trying to look after the poor. Get arrested and interrogated. Whole life marked.
Informed that they have an ISD file opened against them. You do not know the mental agony they went through.
Why they got that kind of treatment? Because of things they did? No, because at that time Francis Seow was president of law society. Think about it also sianz.
Well obviously this guy voted for LHL right haha.Originally posted by HENG@:we're doomed. one moron even got the cheek to tell me he is a thinking voter.![]()
he give a lot of bullcrap about how PAP can make changes. but at the end of the day, isn't it worse to vote for a party which can make changes but refuse to because they profit less even though its more beneficial for the nation as a whole, than to vote for a party with lesser abilities to make changes? If the "lesser" party comes into power, I don't doubt that it'll become equally able to make changes quickly.Originally posted by Rock^Star:Well obviously this guy voted for LHL right haha.
They could be right in their own sense too (to a certain extent of course), isn't it? Everyone holds true to their own beliefs
ask me for wad? im not out. physically i might be out and may be for years, but doesn't mean im mentally out.Originally posted by casino_king:What is gahman for if not to make changes to benefit the majority rite? Brace yourself, guys, for another big round of property price increases. Mainly to benefit people with many extra properties. All you who do not own properties? die standing. All you who own properties? Sell and buy another expensive one also no use, so sell and run away..... ask @Heng how to get out.
already better than most.... so must learn from you...Originally posted by HENG@:ask me for wad? im not out. physically i might be out and may be for years, but doesn't mean im mentally out.
there is a simple solution. if we vote in another party then PAP will be kept honest.Originally posted by casino_king:already better than most.... so must learn from you...
Agree totally. We need to blood the opposition so that they may be given a base footing. Even PAP started from peanuts right? Once they get a stronger base footing in parliament, they will get stronger and stronger......and eventually very credible.Originally posted by HENG@:he give a lot of bullcrap about how PAP can make changes. but at the end of the day, isn't it worse to vote for a party which can make changes but refuse to because they profit less even though its more beneficial for the nation as a whole, than to vote for a party with lesser abilities to make changes? and because there is already a PAP in existance, the new party in power would have to be very honest, because people could easily vote them out again. Similiarly, PAP will have to be honest in a bid to get back in power. But because there is now an alternative party for people to vote for overwhelmingly, neither party can afford to be dishonest anymore. but people dun see that do they? they only look at short term gains.Originally posted by Rock^Star:Agree totally. it will push both major parties to be honest.Originally posted by HENG@:there is a simple solution. if we vote in another party then PAP will be kept honest.
I'm not looking at a complete power change, but a significant presence of credible opposition in the parliament, like 4 singles and 2 GRCs. Believe we can achieve that by the next 3 elections, yr 2021.Originally posted by Rock^Star:SIGHZ..........
Will a power change be effected in our lifetime?!?
Even before I die somewhere in 2050, 60, that time see power change I also content
