Kiasu parents are always around. Nevermind that MOE may be employing caucasians to teach english, even before that, some parents were already demanding that their children go to classes with the 'better teachers'. They even knew these teachers by name. Fancy their intelligence!Originally posted by MrIllusion:I'm disturbed by this news also. Knowing Singaporeans, it will escalate to a point where 'kiasu' parents will only enrol their children in schools where the English teachers are Caucasian.
Are we going to get native Mandarin, Tamil and Malay speakers next?
So funny....Originally posted by mistyblue:
I don't know about official statement, but it was mentioned on the news that they were 'considering' it as a possibility.Originally posted by BillyBong:Was there an official statement by MOE on this item?
it might not be a bad idea to engage native speakers to teach English provided it is carried out properly. Our education system with the constant flip flop is making students and parents very confused and in the end no one will benefit.Originally posted by Lowclassman:What a Joke!!!
I remembered very correctly....During my primary school, History subject was in English and up to Sec 1 and 2.
I had my literature in Sec 1 & 2 as well and all my exam results were above average.
Out of sudden, in my secondary 3 & 4 History subject was changed to Chinese and no more literature.
Now, literature is essential to improving of English and MOE just happily removed it.
All the above changes had resulted failure in my History's examination and also affected my overall examination perfomance.
may be true to what you mentioned.....but btw.....did you notice anything in your language????the slanderous nature of your tongue?????no offense but your words are phrased in a very vile and vicious manner..........Originally posted by Lowclassman:What a Joke!!!

See! How to improve our English with such a educational system?
We pay tonnes of dollars to ministers to get ssshits from them. Fark them all!!!!!
There are so many local good speakers of English and yet the MOE is looking for FT to teach English.
Where is the logic? Are they meant....with 66.6% of votes and they can spend tax payers' money any how?
Or...is it PAP thinks that Singaporeans should speak like Ang Mohs with slang through their noses and that make singaporeans look ''good''.
They have been always painted pictures to singaporeans that we are a ''high tech'' country.
They thought we are frogs in a well.....you bunch of idiots hah....we jolly well knew that in terms technology, science and building of Nation or vibrant city we are far far away from Japan, Korea, Hong Kong or even Taiwan.
I fail to understanding the gov so thick skin to claim these and that Singapore's gov is first or flirt world or world class.....world class on these and that.
Fark them all!!!!!!
Whatsoever ''improvement'' that had done in singapore. They also copied from all over the world...what so great about them? By copying from the world who on earth don't know how to perform as ministers or high ranking officials of the gov or GLC or GIC or tomasick.
* Imagines a Singapore with Singaporeans speaking like 50 cents *Originally posted by fudgester:Well, LHL once called on teachers to use rap and hip-hop to teach English.![]()
So I guess we can combine both LHL's and Tharman's suggestions and get the native speakers to use rap and hip-hop in English lessons.
After all, foreign talent ought to be the most proficient in these things... right?![]()
