China is a rising market force and power not to be reckon with as it concern the impact of the whole Asean or even Pacific region. I dont see boot-licking here.. but diplomacy at work. The chinese leaders hold him in high esteem and respect therefore his strong relationship with them will be able to aid Singapore to greater economic prosperity and one of the way to help the nation's poor get out of poverty.

He is not driving them up the wall but instead he is training them to be first class opposition leaders to tackle the impossible. If the opposition leaders can't even thrive in peace time how do you expect them to succeed in a time of chaos as the world starts to globalise? -

However, he is not psychic. He doesn't know all. His team back then was dynamic.
Look at his young advisors today. They are full of enthusiasm because of the mega salaries but they don't have the talents of the old guards.
The young team in the cabinet are not people managers. They are movies of the week. After a while, nobody remembers who they are or what they did.
No man is an island. If he had let the old guards stay on as long as he is, I believe Singapore would be a much better place today. -
