SM Goh : CDC and grassroot org play useful role

Yes, CDC and grassroot organisations will play an useful role if they are not appointed to serve the ruling party in welcoming them during functions and walk-abouts of ministers.
Now these organizations are a waste of public fund as their members are seen as supporters of the party structure and functions rather than serving the functions of speaking up for the people on high costs or pro-foreign investments and employment policies. The advisers and senior positions are closely linked to support of the ruling party not the people. Many CCC chairmen were businessmen who were trying to serve in order to have better chance of listing their companies or in tendering for government's projects or services.
These organisations' senior positions were seen working for the ruling party MPs and party members preparing for their walk-abouts and other party functions.
They do not play any useful role in their present set-up until they are revamped to become more neutral to serve the people in solving bigger issues like lowering the high costs of living or changing the current pro-foreign investments and job policies. -
RC, CDC and other "grassroot" organisations are the ears and eyes of the Political Leadership.
They are the lines of communications for the Political Leadership to disseminate propaganda, and supposedly to guide Singaporeans and Singapore Society towards the directions that are envisaged by the POWER OF ONE.
For these organisations to be independent will be too much of a political challenge for the POWER OF ONE - as these will become NON-Governmental Organisations, without any ties to the Government that will allow the Political Leadership to pull the strings of control.
Any organisations that serves the grassroots - and beyond the ambit of the Political Leadership - will pose a serious political threat to a highly strung and insecure Political Leadership. -
Isn't this just another indication of the insecurity of the Ruling Party: Their need to re-emphasize their insistence that CDCs and grassroots bring the community together, despite alternative parties lambasting them for being politically-linked?
If they truly have faith in their concepts that CDCs and grassroots serve the people and not the ruling party's politics, why the need to continuously 'condition' singaporeans by stating and re-stating their position? Why not let the people decide?
This is classic double play: they rebutt the negative comments from the ruling party but feel the need to reiterate their position over and over again becuase they themselves are not convinced that the people believe them.

GRCs make it easier to find top talent: SM
- without good chance of winning at polls, they might not be willing to risk careers for politics.
Is this another characteristic feature of insecurity of the thinking of our POLITICAL ELITE being exposed ?
Do we need an assured WIN before we offer ourselves as candidates for Public Service ?
Is this the reason for all the political gerrymeandering by the Political Elite to give themselves an advantageous handicap - despite their claim of being equal to the Citizens of a First World ?
We should applaud those young and honest Singaporean Professionals - who dared to stand with the Alternative Political Parties - even with the open knowledge that they may not win.
These young and honest Singapore Professional - in the Alternative Political Party - will surely put to shame this idea espoused by SM GCT and his team of specially selected new professionals in the recent Election 2006.

In S'pore, the garment (who serves the people regardless of the ruling party)is too closely linked to the ruling party (who serves themselves regardless...). I wonder if the garment can stand up to the job if the ruling party changes...

If a political leader want to know what the public thinks,it is the best for him to interact with the crowds "personally",not through RC,CDC or any other "grassroot" organisation.Becoz if he go through those channels to get what is happening in the society,he will not get a " truthful information".Becoz those RC,CDC ppl are working for him,they will only convey "decorated pleasant news" to him,not those negative or discontent news from the public.Originally posted by Atobe:[color=darkred]

That is why a political leader will only waste their time n money to setup such a useless organisation. -
These are the organisations which are able to send "Volunteers" to hold red flags when the China visitors comes in and also to come up with various performances when those "Organisations" are having celebrations.
Else, where do you think they can get so many Cheap students to do the shows?
