Why is the government so persistent in corporatising essential services into GLCs.
First reason - by creating all these GLCs they could charge market prices whereas previously they had to content with recovering costs and not making profits.
So there is a chance to build government surpluses and increase fees in more politically acceptable and less sensitive manner.
More importantly, GLCs is a system enabling them to reward themselves and their connection of elites with high salaries and bonuses and at the end also get the golden hand shakes worth millions.
The elites connected to the power are rotating among GLCs to enjoy good opportunities created by all these GLCs which suck profits to pay them million-dollar salaries and high bonuses.
In NKF a charity organization of last resort (as government openly refuse to fund any medicare for kidney patients) they already have no compunction in diverting donation to pay the highest salaries and bonuses and other self-rewards to their own elites.
In GLCs the rewards will be even higher..Ordinary nobody upon becoming MPs will soon be rewarded directorships worth millions in salaries and bonuses and share options. Now after paying such millions to their elites they are raising some more transport fares on the ground of rising costs and high oil prices.
If such job opportunities are allocated by level playing fields the costs of operations could have been much cheaper and there would be no need to keep raising their fees and charges for every reason they could think of.
Ours is a system created to reward the network of elites loyal or connected to the power.
