The soon-to-open VivoCity has announced a job fair as it looks for thousands of workers.
VivoCity, which will be Singapore's largest shopping centre, will open its doors at HarbourFront in three months.
7,000 workers are needed for the 90 companies in the shopping centre.
About 3,000 jobs will be available at the job fair.
Almost 4 out of 5 of the vacancies are for retail and service workers like bartenders and cashiers.
The rest are reserved for professionals and managerial positions.
And to help new staff, the shopping centre's management has worked with the Workforce Development Agency to offer them training.
But the employers want applicants to come equipped with certain qualities.
Wendy Low, centre general manager for VivoCity, said: "The job fair is a collaboration with the WDA and in partnership with our tenants, we're going to bring in job seekers with the right attitude and the right passion to work here. Basically, they're going to become ambassadors of VivoCity."
C.K. Tang's Head of Singapore Business, Tan Boon Tuck, said: "With the publicity and the way it is being organised by VivoCity and the WDA, I'm sure there are going to be a lot of quality people coming to the fair and I hope they will visit our booth and take up our offer."
The fair opens next Friday at the HarbourFront centre. - CNA/ir
Most jobs are for bartenders and cashiers...the salary range is fair for such low-skilled and unskilled jobs. In fact, 2k is far too much for a bartender or cashier. You can employ a PhD from China for $2500 a month!Originally posted by dragg:mostly service positions.
salary ranges from $700 - $2200.
3000 jobs but the highest salary range is only $2200.![]()
