Do u know how much to own a car??Originally posted by will4:I see in Spore majority of the cars nice n expensive. I wonder if people no need to buy the car, they still need to buy? Is is really necessary to spend
money on a nice item in order to earn praise? I heard people after buying car became not happy after not being able to service the car loan. They started to blame the government for their predicament.![]()
If my memory is right, the COE is implemented to prevent people from buying many car n resulting in the road being jammed. Although there is still trafficOriginally posted by zzzdidi:Do u know how much to own a car??
my calculations are as follows:
(1) COE, depreciation of car value ,road tax and insurance S$20000 per year i.e S$1,700 p.m
(2) petrol S$300 p.m
(3) ERP and car park S$150
(4) Installment loan S$1000 p.m
U hve too spend ard S$3000 p.m to keep a car which is the most expensive thing in the world.
It is not true that we are not able to service the car loan ,then blame the gov but wat is the rational of paying COE etc and we are still hve to pay road tax and radio fee etc.
Cost of living is so high in Spore and we hve paid so much to the gov unknowingly ie COE,road tax, maid levy and GST etc,do u know how much all these items add up to be per month???
In Spore, car allowed to keep for only ten year. Based on ur saying aboutOriginally posted by ShutterBug:hmm..
if they really wanna control or regulate car ownership, why allow for such things as Zero Downpayment with 10 year loan schemes???
And who's making more money this way???
All in lah.. plus registration, insurance and first month instalment only less than $3000 you drive home a new car, and stuck with a loan for 10 years!Originally posted by will4:In Spore, car allowed to keep for only ten year. Based on ur saying about
zero payment, the company still need to pay for the COE or the buyer?
WE ARE ON THE SAME TRACK!Originally posted by ShutterBug:hmm..

WE ARE ENCOURAGED BY GOV 2 BUY CAR,OH!!!OUR GOV ISSUE MORE COE TO LET THE CAR POPULATION UP N UP AND COE DROP AND DROP!!! SELLING ON VOLUME AND MAKE LESS PROFIT BUT BETTER INCOME,VERY SMART OH!!!
BUT WE DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IF THERE IS COE WHY WE HVE TO PAY ROAD TAX ETC.![]()

One fine day, ERP gantries will be just outside your HDB estate's carpark!Originally posted by dragg:one of the many great ideas to bring in revenue.
That day will neber come cuz I know deep within each sporeans they yearn to own a car for convenience sake. Something like everyday must eat to survive habitOriginally posted by ShutterBug:Supposing if 60% of motorists in Singapore gave up their own transport, what do you think will happen during peak hours??
Just imagine...
And with the extra load of commuters, the fares will increase again. In the end, public transport will not be any different from owning your own transport.

I wouldn't be surprised at all!
I'm doing fine, I make my own living.. it's just the others like my colleagues, associates, friends, clients, who are crawling along each new year....
I wouldn't mind taking public transport if it isn't so unreliable and crowded.

Singapore is becoming like Japan - super duper expensive living.
cost of general public transport can nv be near to owning ur own transport, if not who will take them? Not to mention that the price of having a car here is just too high for public transport to ever catch up.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Supposing if 60% of motorists in Singapore gave up their own transport, what do you think will happen during peak hours??

sadly for many people, these painful times is not going to end until the day they die.Originally posted by Gosu.:What makes us sad is the superficial increase of the standard of living. However, due to this superficial increase on the surface, it has directly influenced our inner-self's level of a "what makes me happy", even if not at whole, at a comparable ratio.
This thread shows that, even when the country is progressing, certain people get left out. Using the meagre sum they earn to make ends meet.
However it's in the process of undergoing such painful times, that you realise that rice is sweet.
