Israeli aircraft today struck a runway at Beirut's international airport, shortly after it was repaired and reopened following airstrikes Thursday, the Lebanese and Israeli armies said. Lebanon's prime minister says he has received a promise from President Bush to press Israel to stop the attacks on Lebanon.

No swift victory for IDF. In fact its prestige was dealt a blow. Mounting pressure on Israel backer, US to call for ceasefire as casualties mount on both sides.
US looked set to wipe out the Hezbollah from the start not calling for ceasefire even when thousands were displaced. Lebanon airspace became
IDF jets' playground. In UK there are calls for Mr Tony Blair to distance himself from US in this incident.
US and UK calls for restraint and not immdiate cessation of fire were officially interpreted by Israel as the tacit approval for continued bombing. Meanwhile bombs are being rushed via UK to Israel for re-supply.
OIC meeting resulted in Malaysia and Indonesia two moderate Islamic nations wanting to send peace-keeping troops. It is good that nations are prepared to fill the power vacuum in Middle East and of a moderate voice and act as a buffer against the Israeli military prowess. This helps to reduce the tendency of taking things into their own hands by militants sympathic to Lebanonese causes. -
