Are our education system outdated ?

Our educational system is as the first post very similar to ancient China Imperial exams for wen and wu
Until there is another way to differentiate and determine a capable talent, paper exams are still the only way through.
So like all ancient system, all junior potential ministerial talent will be attached to a senior minister to learn the ropes and then hope that in years to come, the junior would have learnt enuff to strike out on his own. Etc etc...
Now is this system outdated? IMO, I would say it is but unless I can offer an alternative system to replace this outdated system and that will churn out good and great leaders, I just have to accept the existing educational system as the only way

Your reply reminds me of one criteria besides juz paper examinations. Practicals!!!! Yes I know in recent times practical exams are gaining more weightage in overall exam but it is not enuff. For your reply, the construction of the nicoll highway could be a practical exam for Mr BigShot to guage his performance. If he fails that practical then obviously he is not cut out for ministerial level. A ministerial level person should be BOTH theory and practical inclined to be fully useful to a nation. But after this incident we know the competence of that fellow and if he fails, then the money already spent inside how to recoup? -
