This response is a surprising change in your position towards the Malaysian circumstances, after your attitude towards their 'quality' issue.
Have you come to a point to accept the 'Malaysian quality' - to the extent of purchasing retirement homes in Malaysia ?
However, you are not wrong in your approach to invest in a landed property in Malaysia - so as to achieve an early retirement plan - with the [b]STRONG SINGAPORE DOLLAR earned from working in Singapore.
Besides the Malaysians, there are also many other foreigners having this plan to earn the highly valued Singapore Dollar for their retirement, and have sought to find employment here in many desparate ways.
Unfortunately, prior to putting the retirement plan into motion, the Singaporean couple will need to spend on accomodation in Singapore en route to seeing their retirement plan coming into fruition; while the Malaysians can commute daily between Malaysia and Singapore.
Will there be sufficient Singapore Dollar left from the monthly wages to plan for retirement, while paying for the present high expenses to live in Singapore ?

Singaporeans where got selfish??Originally posted by blueheeler:I'm not M'sian but I fully understand the exit levy, especially for S'pore cars who go to JB for cheap pertol. The M'sian govt spends billions each month to subsidize pertrol, I suppose to make it easier for M'sian pockets. In this case, S'poreans are not supposed to 'profit' from this.
But being the selfish S'porean like the rest of you, I will miss going to JB for cheap pertrol....

Many thanks for your concern to my position, but with an attitude on humility as spelled out by you as it is in a public forum - you will probably have to take a double look at the effect to your own position as viewed by third parties.
Why laugh at the Malaysian "Proton" series of cars ?
If there is such a quality issue as you have alluded, then the number of Singaporean owners of Proton cars must reflect the ongoing stupidity with the purchase of even the current models that are running on our roads, as well as in UK - where it seems to have been a hit since its first launch.
It seems that beside ordinary Singaporeans buying the Proton cars - despite the Quality issue which you have alluded to, the [b]Singapore GIC is reported to be acquiring a stake in Proton - causing the Malaysian Press to raise questions.
The problem with a hackneyed nationalistic pride - that is laced with arrogance - is that we blindside ourselves to the changing situation in the opposite camp, with the changing events creeping up behind us while we lull ourselves to sleep with misplaced arrogance and prejudiced thinking.

And who might you be, to order people out?
And by the way, since I am an old man, and you seem to imply you will never grow old - safe for me to assume you may die young? cause no one stays young forever oh wise one.
unless you think yourself Godly??

there's a saying, old things dun go, new things dun come. so its also safe enough for me to say u may die earlier than me. as for staying young...ur just older than me...so ur still older...haha. get it? duh.
implying that one dun grow old...me? u seem to be jealous of me izzit? no, its not a question...it is!
maybe u simply like to place words in other pple's mouth? so typical of bashers of the sg govt. guess nothing's new to me from u

Personally, I do admire your agility and wit in words, but inimidated by you, why should I? Or do you think I should? its up to u. i can't help it if u have pee'd in ur pants by now.
Here again, I have no intention or the time to engage in pointless arguments with you. You go on happily shoe-shining the MIW while I go on happily (as you put it) bashing sg govt. since u think its pointless, y even start in the first place? haven't u read my reply as "no constructive replies then just l.e.a.v.e this conversation." otherwise ur just a distraction and pain in the @ss. dun get it? need me to go more simpler n plain? if u have the guts, go n speak in a real speaker's corner instead of whinning in here. go join the oppositions and make it better...stop ur whimpering??!!
These are afterall your terms, not mine. Hence I am les likely one adept at putting words in anyone's mouth. what's my terms? what have i stated as terms n conditions? mind quoting me to refresh my mind, oh confused one? is this not ur putting words into my mouth again? such childish wordings at ur age?! golly! joke sia...less likely to put words into anyone's mouth??

It is best that you defer your reply to one who insist on seeing his post as the last outstanding piece in the thread.
Is it any use to continue in an endless argument on a small matter of pride ?

which custom charges u RM3.20 to go in? i tot its still RM2.60? i went in last week from JB customs.Originally posted by reyes:pls stop personal attack. the topic is about malaysia impose RM20 and its impact only.
we should respect the malaysian decision to impose it if it fit their political and ecnonomic objectives. frankly i feel it serve more cons than pros after imposing it. yes the malaysia can get more tax as a result but how many of these levy collect actually go to the states?
how many times you guys go to custom and paid RM3.20 without getting a receipt? they dont give to you unless you request for it.
if the service, retail industry are badly affected, how can the govt use their extra levy to help it? tax rebates for them? if these retail arent making a profit, where the tax rebates gona help? how to create jobs? why stifle the economy and try to manhandle it.
its a do and die and dont do also die situation for the malaysia cabinet.
yes i agree that they hope no one will bring it up again in the news/newsapaper so they can forget about it. save the face and JB economy.
Thanks for bringing the discussion back in-line, although the continued discussion maybe quite pointless - now that the Malaysian Government seems to be incline not to implement the RM20 levy.Originally posted by reyes:pls stop personal attack. the topic is about malaysia impose RM20 and its impact only.
