Firstly I think scolding bad word should be descipline why sue!? Tot it used to be canning or detention...
Secondly I think its should be that no matter opposition or government should speak words that is true. Or else it be havoc oreadi. What kind of democracy is it when people have to doubt on which words are lies. THey will only made decision on the best liar. -

There's no need 2 blame everything on the government. really.
How a person conducts himself/herself is usually through his/her upbringing. When a child is abusive, spoilt, we say the parents did not do a gd job. The country don't have much social/econoimc/political problems, we say that the government never do their job. How unfair can that be? -
if this abusive student is let off scot-free, more students will think scolding teachers is a trivial issue and in the future more will take it for granted and treat teachers with disrespect
no matter what this student must still be punished...
but what for sue the student, so troublesome??? what can the teacher gain by doing that..u think the school principal will approve?
even if the teacher wins, the most serious is a fine only and the student end up asking his parents for money to pay the fine to the government, sue student no different from sue parents
there are many other forms of viable punishment in schools
make him do extra assignement/homework
make him stay back after school hours do extra duties
cane him in front of class
blacklist him
make him do pushup/starjumps/duckwalks during PE lessons
deduct 30 points from his tests/exams
confiscate his underwear
shave his hair botak/ shave his lan jiao mo
make him run around the school naked, etc -
All this problem of abusive, rude and violent students, are brought about by parents who think the world of their children.
For a country that does not have Human Rights, it is ironic to see so much "rights" bestowed upon students in schools. Hence, we will see more of students climbing up on top of teachers' heads.

Until you have some tangible proof of this or when and if the '1-page apology' hits the newspaper, i seriously doubt if anything you say will be taken at face value.
Teachers who make such incredulous demands will find themselves at the wrong end of the stick, and end up 'walking the plank' to their own career demise.
Profanities or the use of abusive and foul language is already addressed in the MOE rulebook: Canning, suspension, counselling etc
If what you say is true, that teacher can be reported for excessive behaviour and disciplined by the school for conduct unbecoming.
Still, it does not take away the fact that parents, in the pursuit of moneybags and career, have completely neglected their own children's upbringing. The increasingly poorer discipline exhibited by the students of today is an accurate reflection of our erosion of basic values and changing times. -
Ah...this is one of the reasons why we all better leave singapore while we can...
At least overseas, you can have your own little space and not see all these narrow minded people here..such a pathetic narrow minded teacher -
it has been some time since my schooling days.
Normally, this type of cases should be handled by discipline masters, then maybe inform the parents and if very serious, MOE step in to resolve the dispute.
Where got hear the teacher sue the student want, nowadays education system not same like last time already, so cannot comment vey much. -

I am not being pro-PAP, but I believe that we should really see things from a different angle.... we should try to get the big picture or get our facts right first before we make such irresponsible statements.... If not, we'll become anti-PAP.... If you believe tht others should not be pro-PAP, then you yourself should not be anti-PAP in the first place...
Sueing someone is part of the LAW. Companies all over the world sue their business partners for breach of contract. Companies also threaten to sue third party for copyright infringement, fraud etc etc. The Singapore government is not the only body that sues others....
If we cannot sue someone for swearing at us or saying bad things about us, then why is there a LAW that protects us from defamation? -

there are already two cases. teacher asking students to beat up another student who failed to do his homework, and now this.
wtf is education minister doing? academic wise has improved but how does it ever applied to real life? moral values have gone down the drain, we have students who dun show respect to teachers n teachers who used authority in wrong way.
