Straits Times, Wednesday, August 9 edition, Home Page H4 had the headline:
[b]Too many cabs, not enough drivers
which spelled out the problems faced by the taxi operators when it was discovered that the number of cabs had shrunk to 22,226 from 22,383 at the end of 2005.
This earth shaking shrinkage of 0.0070142 per cent has led to a call for 'Foreign Talents' to be recruited into the taxi service, using the example of the large number of foreigners employed to drive taxis in the large cities of the Western Countries on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.
Has LTA and the Taxi Companies studied the causes for the 'shrinkage' and take remedial actions before calling for FT being recruited ?
The private taxi companies seems to be taking the lead by lowering their daily rental rates and increasing the benefits of their bonus schemes.
Will this be the final nail to end the sovereignty of Singapore Labor, which largely has been chained to the NTUC - acting as the proxy to the interest of the POWER OF ONE more than to Singaporean Workers.

Oxford, u r making us laughing the whole 9 that bricklayer makes M$10 i.e S$4.30 per day in Malaysia, pls recruit for my frds who have projects in KL and in urgent need of bricklayers, he says he can pay u M$90 per worker as commision. The ICEC is a reputable international organization and the figures posted on its sites are derived from member organizations, of which SISV is one. It was the Malaysian Insitution of Surveyors that posted those figures in 2003. If you think you know better than the experts in Malaysia, you can write to them and dispute their data.
