  Well, gov is trying to get people to use public transport, but at the same time, they let or allow fares for Taxis, Bus and MRT to go ever upwards.
  
  Don't look for rationale in what they do - just think REVENUES or PROFITS, they'd be behind it.

  we just have bluddy work HARD, compete with FTs to remain competitive/competent, open our arms to foreigners and all that jazz!
  
  And at the end of the day, we can go to a little village in Batam or wherever land is dirt-cheap to end our life there.
