Assault 'a civil case', so no police action

AFAIK, if person A attack person B without use of weapon. Police cannot do anything.
However, if person A attack Person B, without weapon, but severely injure him. Police will step in and take action.
However, in this case, there are 6 - 8 person who attacked him. Even if the injuries are not severe enough to be considered a criminal act, the 6 - 8 people should also be considered to be holding an illegal gathering.
Therefore, there is no reason why the police shouldn't have acted immediately and apprehended them. -

This is actually quite a 'standard procedure' in Singapore.... GET USED TO IT...
My brother was assaulted near a neighbourhood Police Post... I think the distance is less than 10 metres away from it... Nowadays they just 'close shop'... Of course I understand they might need to do 'petrol' and all that... The IRONY of it all is that the 7-11 around that corner was still open... I believe the police post has a 'push help' button.. Too bad he just couldn't reach it in time...?
From what I know, when you approach the police and tells them that you've been assaulted... They'll ask if you know the person / people who assaulted you.... If your answer is...
1. You don't know - Their answer would probably be either 'then there's nothing they can do about it' or 'they'll investigate the matter'...
2. You know - It's a civil case. Pls go and sue that person / people.

I dun mind if they say its a civil case and ask the guy to go thru legal procedures... but i dun understand...they just walked away? I mean,the guy must have been beaten up badly, the least the policemen could do is to stay with him, take some statements until the ambulance come.

But when A wacks B in the P.O's presence and refuses to stop, A can be arrested.
As for the white elephants and the 4-person-strike incident, it is quite obvious that the matter was directed at the MIWs. And you know what happens when you mess with MIWs.

As an enforcer of the law, the police are expected to be able to apply both lenient and stringent connotations where applicable.
In packed areas, it makes absolutely no sense for police to question every group > 5. Not only does it make them look silly, it makes the law itself look stupid outright.
When a gang of 6 beat up a defenceless individual, obviously the public will expect the police to act, and act swiftly to deter other would-be aggressors. Failing to do so would mean our police are weak and lack the will to enforce the letter of the law in such circumstances.
After all, our police force are always preaching prevention rather than reaction.
This case highlights their hopelessness and failure to act as required. -

Just because they don't have to squeeze themselves in the packed bus and MRT... Don't have to worry about tax (which would ultimately rounds back into their renumeration).... Don't have to worry about themselves being beaten up and assaulted in the public..
