M'sia Syed Hamid Albar advocate arms delivery to Hezbollahs

With Malaysia currently in the chair of the Organisation of Islamic, is the Malaysian Foreign Minister attempting to steal the spotlight for himself, by sounding more militant than his Prime Minister ?
Do the Hezbollah still need any arms from the OIC or Malaysia, when they are already well supplied by Iran, with more then 13,000 unguided missiles in their inventory.

OIC nations should consider arms for Hezbollah: Malaysian minister
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP) - Malaysia's Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Tuesday Muslim nations should consider supplying arms to Hezbollah amid anger and frustration over Israel's offensive in Lebanon.
Malaysia currently chairs the 57-nation Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), and Syed Hamid said Israel could not be allowed to act with impunity although it seeemingly had "carte blanche" in its operations.
"Some are suggesting that we supply arms. Okay, we should look at all these things," Syed Hamid was quoted as saying by the state Bernama news agency.
"The governments (of OIC) countries should look and we must not allow Israel to do what it wants," he said, but added that Muslim countries had to act according to international norms and principles.
Syed Hamid also criticised a United Nations draft resolution on ending the conflict which has been rejected by Lebanon because it does not call for the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from its territory.
"I think we must not look at Israel only. We must also look at what Lebanon wants. I think it is unfair, imbalanced and unjust to just look at what Israel wants," he said.
"The world should not be dictated just purely by Israeli desire but it must be incorporating justice and fairness in the international system," he said. -
The Middle East crisis and its repercussion does not augur well for the good relations between Spore and her neighbours if not handled carefully.

Abu Bakar Bashir is not calling for arms to be shipped to Hezbollah, but is calling for all Muslims to join in a Jihad to fight the Israelis.

THOUSANDS of Indonesians held street rallies today to condemn Israel's offensive in the Middle East as hardline cleric Abu Bakar Bashir called for a "jihad" force to battle the Jewish state.
In Jakarta, the capital of the world's most populous Muslim nation, more than 3000 people protested outside the UN mission over its failure to halt the violence.
"So far, there are no signs that the United Nations is acting justly as an international institution," Muslim leader Dien Syamsuddin told the crowd.
"We press the Indonesian Government to mobilise solidarity among peace-loving nations in the world to pressure the United Nations to halt the Israeli aggression.
"If the United Nations does nothing because it is influenced by the superpower, America, we call on the government of Indonesia to initiate a vote of non-confidence against the United Nations," said Mr Syamsuddin, who is a deputy chairman of Muhammadiyah, Indonesia's second largest Islamic movement.
The demonstrators had gathered earlier for an inter-religious rally and later marched to the US embassy. The heads of various religions – Islam, Roman Catholicism, Protestants and Buddhists – led the protest.
"Give a Chance to Peace" and Save Children, No War," some of the banners read.
The crowd dubbed Israel "the aggressor" and the US "terrorist".
"Israel should be taken to the International Court of Justice because it has killed a lot of children and women," said a deputy chairman of the Indonesian Council of Ulema, Amidhan.
One group displayed a poster reading "Condemn the sadistical and inhuman actions of Israel, USA and the mayor of west Jakarta".
They were victims of evictions ordered by the mayor.
Bashir, speaking at mass prayers in support of Lebanon and Palestine, called on the Government to let Indonesians join the fight against Israel.
Bashir told some 1000 people in the Central Java town of Pekalongan that Jakarta should try to mobilise a mujahideen force from member countries of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference.
"If it cannot ... at least open the door for citizens who want to engage in jihad (holy war) there," he said.
Bashir was sentenced to 30 months for his role in a "sinister conspiracy" that led to the 2002 Bali bombings, which left 202 people dead, including 88 Australians. He was released from prison in June.
Yesterday a group called the Asian Muslim Youth Movement said it was prepared to send hardliners to attack Jewish interests in countries that back Israel.
In Indonesia's second largest city, Surabaya, around 1500 Muslims held a protest march, El Shinta radio reported. In the city of Yogyakarta, it said, about 3000 people joined protests.
A similar protest involving hundreds of people took place in Medan. -

Albar's remarks , though provocative at face-value, is indeed more of showing symbolic solidarity with them rather than ideological support.

Syed Hamid's father was Syed Albar.........who created trouble in Singapore in 1964 when he inflamed local Malays with his racist speeches.

Malaysia denies threatening war

Malaysia has denied it had threatened war with neighbouring Singapore over a series of disputes, dismissing complaints by the island-state's foreign minister.
"Malaysia has never talked about war. We have never said that we would go to war," said Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar.
"In a conflict situation, we would like to negotiate, and if we cannot agree, we refer it to a third party. That's always been our approach. We have no intention of declaring war with anybody."
However, he said, "we are always talking about defending our rights and sovereignty".
Singapore on Saturday denounced "loose talk of war" by politicians and the media in Malaysia over a series of bilateral disputes, calling it irresponsible and dangerous.
Singapore's Foreign Minister S Jayakumar cited a statement by Syed Hamid who was quoted by the official Bernama news agency on December 31 as saying that Singapore has only two choices -- compromise or go to war.

Is the educational path to Priesthood comparable in intensity and difficulty to someone passing through Cambridge, or the Ivy League Universities, and which prepare either the priest or the scholar to be National Leaders ?
What training and experience is most suitable to prepare anyone for Political Leadership ?
In our Singapore Context, besides political loyalty to the patrons, academic excellence is the prime indicator of one's intelligence capacity, which opens the door for further on-the-job testing.
Can we believe that those who advocate Jihad are not driven by their personal political ambition - much like Adolf Hitler and his political vision for Europe, and Stalin's communist empire ?

But truth of the matter is, in the course of our discussion, there are many people who try to justify it with poverty.
"Oh they are so poor, its understandable that they feel shortchanged by the caucasians..."
"They have had hard lives, its ok for them to take to arms to kill american civillians, after all, the americans did this to them..."
"They have been oppressed, of course we should not condemn them when the decide to blow up buildings filled with american civillians..."
I'm not saying that the americans are angels. They have their fair share of ill intentions and wrong doings. But killing civillians by the hundreds, whether by americans, germans, israelis or arabs is just wrong and cannot be condoned, oppressed or otherwise. -
Malaysia and Israel do not have diplomatic relations to begin with. Also Malaysia may be wanting to assert itself as the big brother in the Malay Archipelago, competing head on with Indonesia. Both Indonesia and Malaysia have wanted to send troops at a very early stage.
