On the topic of talent, I think PM contradicted himself.
Saying Mr Brown, a local, is talented and instead of using his talent, went on air to bring him down further is bad handling of talents that dare to speak up on issues humorously.
Why crave for foreign talents at the expense of local talents?
Is it because foreign talents don't give the kind of problems that local talents do?
Under the constitution, Citizens cannot have their status revoked nor can they be put under exile - unless it is voluntary. -

The government has come down hard on PDMMs who work in massage parlours but that does not mean we have no more massage parlours in Singapore. People, FTs are important for Singapore.
High-living standard results in our low-birthrate.
We need FTs to balance the numbers and create more jobs.
More importantly, the FTs given citrizenships are obedient to PAP.
Surely will vote for PAP during GE.

But my son asked Ah Long why didnt they set up in China directly where they can attract more china FTs at a cheaper cost???

It must be one of the best speech given by our beloved leader lee hisen loong last night. The numerous point that he highlighted was spot on. There's no doubt we need foreign talents on our shore due to the lack of babies and to attract them over, how can we demand them to serve NS? Its ridiculous.
As the world is fast changing, we need to be focus and constantly be on our toes due to our lack of natural resources. The change from swiss living to Paris by our MM is indeed refreshing. Paris being a far more exciting place than Switzerland is needed in monotonous singapore.
Singaporeans as usual jumps to the gun and criticise Lee hisen loong when he mistakenly says added hum in local malay food mee siam. I am very sure many of you don't know that Mr lee hisen loong is so popular with our malays that whenever he order mee siam, the owner will give the extra ingredients, in this case, hum to him.
It was such a good speech and knowingly we are in the right direction. In a spontaneous mood, my friend and I head off to a KTV and sang HOME by chen jie yi, Where I Belong - 2001 Theme Song and A Place In My Heart - 2003 Theme Song. The mood in the hall was so emotional and inspiring that many patrons join in and sing with us. -

i think it was the fact that his views were published on a national newspaper like Today that got Brown in trouble. At a time when the Internet is full of rumours, the government here, as well as round the world needs the local media such as newspapers 2 counter whatever is said in the Internet. Newspapers have no place for half-truths or distorts of facts, and obviously, Brown's views had been viewed 2 be full of rubbish.
This has nothing 2 do with talent. Brown has a talent for making podcast. But that talent wasn't used when he wrote that column that got him the rebuttal -

I am a chairman of a MC and received at least 10 complaints from the residents that these FTs espeically the Chinese Nationals,not only spitting and littering ans also creating a lot of nusiance in our cond.these at least 30 FTs including Prostitutes are staying in sub-divied rented compartment units.yet Our PM asked us to love them who are not only infringe our p life but bring bad influ 2 our children. We hve to sleep at 9 and wake up earlier to work the next am but these PTS are different , they walked with wood slippers when they returned to their units during hours of darkness. It appears that some of the ministers like 2 visit PRC almost everymonth,can anyone tell me the resones? . Just take a look, which group is specially mentioned by the PM? They are now a new "race" in Singapore!! With Singaporeans slowly turning into the minority, why would they bother to assimilate into our society? Furthermore, being coined the term FT, they think they have achieve god-like status, and are above them all. From wad I noe, these FTs are her to escape the fierce competition back in their homeland and the really 'zai' one already in USA. They are mainly here to milk the maximum benefits provided by our "carrot head" government.
One day someday, Singapore can only be introduced to others as a "Rich Hotel for under-rated talents!!" -

Feedback Unit receives 120 responses on PM's rally speech
In just one night, the Feedback Unit received 120 comments from the public on the National Day Rally speech delivered by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Among them, 90 responses were through SMS - a new channel used by the Unit to encourage more Singaporeans to air their views.
Some of the feedback centred on the issue of attracting more foreign talents to Singapore and how this would affect job opportunities.
There were also praises for the caring tone of Mr Lee's speech as well as initiatives to reach out to overseas Singaporeans.
But some felt that the speech did not address domestic issues sufficiently.
Going forward, the Feedback Unit will restructure itself to be more relevant and explore more ways to leverage on technology.
Dr Amy Khor, Chairman of Feedback Unit, said: "They started email, interactive webchat sometime ago. SMS is yet another new medium that we are actually harnessing to make our feedback channel more effective. Definitely, we are looking at the possibility of doing blogs to engage the younger Singaporeans. We are evaluating as to how we can do this." - CNA/ir -

Singaporeans say PM Lee's rally speech resonates with them
The talk of the town on Monday was the Prime Minister's National Day Rally speech.
Many felt it touched their lives.
One was glad that it wasn't just about dollars and cents.
Even foreign-born citizens wanted their say.
Channel NewsAsia spoke to Singaporeans among the lunchtime crowd at Raffles Place, one day after PM Lee Hsien Loong's speech on Sunday.
They said they liked what they heard from PM Lee.
It was a speech that resonated with them, especially when the topics were close to their hearts.
"I quite like the part that he said that you know that Singaporeans need to have more babies. I feel that it is true," said a Singaporean.
"I'm glad it wasn't just about goodies and dollars....I think the Singapore psyche is really a lot more than just dollars and cents," said another.
The Prime Minister's message on immigration also struck a chord with many Singaporeans.
They said that new immigrants add diversity.
And for those who have just arrived on our shores, they said that Singapore is a most welcoming home away from home.
"I'm here for more than 15 years now. For the local culture, I am used to it, I like the Singapore style," said one immigrant turned citizen.
"It means that you are all inclusive, that you welcome other people and not so protective," said another immigrant.
"People are very forthcoming, so that's a good sign that people are welcoming newcomers here," said a third.
"........Given a chance, definitely, I feel it's a good place to settle down," said a fourth.
Singaporeans also welcomed the idea of plugging into a new digital age, though some had reservations.
"It would definitely make information more readily available to more people," said one Singaporean.
"I think it's superb for our productivity, and the people get connected," said another.
But a third Singaporean said: "If it's viable, why aren't the schools already into it in the first place?"
Whatever their views, Singaporeans took Mr Lee's message to heart.
Although the Prime Minister spoke on wide-ranging topics, it seemed that the local issues mattered most. - CNA/ir
