...The government has officially made no decision on it, but the sister of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Assoc Prof Lee Wei Ling, has described the high-profile Nepalese twins separation as "a medical mistake"....
you are correct, there's no such thing as half-correct because anything that is not 'totally' correct is wrong..Originally posted by toll123:So somehow I was helf-correct![]()

Straits Times, Tuesday, 22 August 2006 - front page report :
[b]Charity goup Youth Challenge under probe
It was reported that the Commissioner of Charities has started investigation into a complaint from the National Council of Social Service on "alleged breaches in the administration of Youth Challenge as a charity".
It was also reported that the charity raised $400,000 in 2005, and has reserves of about $100,000.
Meanwhile, the Director pays himself $13,000 monthly salary, with one supporting staff paid $1,500 a month, and two interns paid $350 monthly.
The report also mentioned that a Dr Lee Wei Ling - Head of Neuroscience Institute - had written to the charity two weeks ago, to advise them of her decision to step down as as a Board Member, and to remove all mention of her name associated with the Charity.
Another "Peanut Personality" in the making, sitting pretty on the Board without making any effort in supervisory oversight until hell is about to break loose, and then ensuring that dirt is not splattered onto oneself.

Maybe there are more BoDs than staff.Originally posted by ditzy:SO youth challenge only consists of 1 director, 1 supporting staff, and 2 interns?![]()
x2 on the portfolio partOriginally posted by aiglosicicle:i used to be part of youth challenge. i dont like the mr lam guy. and most of the student volunteers there are only there to improve their portfolios so they can fight for those prestigious scholarships... all that talk about how they believe in helping society is bullshit most of the time. i know because some of my friends and i are rather familiar with this kind of people.
that's why i quit.
Simple! cos, our system makes the elites of all high ranking officials blinded and competing each other for higher and higher salaries. The trend is moving this way now......Originally posted by gerrykoh:Why nobody checks how come he can pay himself so much?
He should be ashamed cos the donations are meant for the poor & underprivileged.
The publicity has been milked for all its election worth. Now that they got their 'strong mandate', the NKF and Durai case has been downgraded to little more than sideshow distractions.Originally posted by sourketchup:Still awaiting the outcome of the trial of TT Durai.
By reading yr posting ,reminded me about a full page artical written by Mdm Ho Cheng in Todays to supprt Mr Durai and his gang in NKF during the investigation of the corruption and CBT scandal.Originally posted by Dogtor:How come so many people already judge him guilty even before investigations and inquiries are completed?
He should be innocent till proven guilty.
We are Singaporeans, not Nazis.
His pay is very high compared to median Singaporean household income but this needs to be taken into context of his role - he is not just a volunteer or founder anymore.
He has devoted his time fully.
The governing board if following principles of governance paid him so that he don't get corrupt is merely doing what SG government does by paying top dollars to top people.
We can avoid all this problem by bench-marking CEO and other IPC/charities director salaries/remuneration/compensation.
Suggest that in future, IPCs consider using a remuneration consultancy in IPC or a reference such as http://www.guidestar.org/
This will allow comparable charities of similar size and funds pay their boards/employess/CEO appropriately.
We need to benchmark because Singapore is so small that there cannot be enough examples of similar IPCs/charities to provide guidance on this issue.
This will kill this issue since Ministerial pay also benchmarked.
