Influx of foreigners a threat to our National Identity?

SG is a land of immigrants and will always be a land of immigrants.....from the highest ranking FTs to the lowest FT who sweeps your roads and builds your homes....you dare say that they should not come....What has NUS taught you?
Scumbags like you should be thrown into the deep end and be taught the realities of life after graduation.
In fact the people I hope to see rot away the most are the pampered belony graduate softies who think that there is a job waiting for them when they graduate in either an MNC or the comfy confines of the public service...Go get a life you bums.....I myself create jobs for others and I am proud of it..I'll be an FT in some other land too, helping them to improve....FTs are a fact of life.

In our hospital here, many of our nurses are not Caucasians, they are Filipinos. The husbands of the Filipino nurses work as security guards and porters. The cleaners in the hospital are all PRC and Polish workers. Many of the doctors come from India and the Caribbean. A large proportion of the research scientists and lab techs come from Italy, China, Spain, India and Africa.
Why shouldn't foreigners who are just as good as you not enjoy a similar quality of life? Get real. This is the real world..if you cannot compete, you will be left behind, extinct like the dodo. -

Basically, I don't see competition as any real threat to our economy and relevantly to the livelihoods of locals, but rather, the rising costs of living which WILL eventually make labor here, EXPENSIVE. Even with FTs and the employment of foreign workers. There you go again comparing Singapore with the west. We are just a tiny red dot; and CONTROL is our gov's forte!
Besides, what is our gov making us run for? Chasing world economies to meet WHOS' ends? The people or gov's own coffers??
After all they say they don't owe us a living, but we still owe them one!
One thing is sure, these FTs to top up population also tops up their pool of supporters for the next GE!
People can see through it all...and this is the REAL objective. -
Moreover, wouldn't these FTs and eventual new citizens become another 'layer' of aged locals?
Who takes care if them when their offsprings are still budding and yet to add to our talented pool of elites - or would they? Perhaps by then they decide for greener pastures when they themselves gets 'competed' out of our ever maddening World Economic Race? Or Living Cost reasons again? -

some of the postings here bordered on xenophobia...while its understandable that we are fearful of the fact that these FTs will steal our job, the truth is that as long as u are hardworking, and are willing 2 strive for success, u will eventually rise to the top.

It is those who come here, asking for low wages because they never intend to stay, and with the Sing dollars, can go back home rich, that bother us.
I don't mind competing with them, it is a globalised world anyhow, but how do I compete with them when I have to pay for a house that cost a first world price, expensive healthcare, expensive education for my children, compared to them who are not staying on here?
I hope the government looks seriously into cutting the costs of living here, like housing and tertiary education. -

Actually, you'all are debating and arguing over a decoy issue; the real objective in FTs is enlarging their supporters - how else do you think they can stay in power every GE??
Without all these FTs over the decade, I don't think they could have gotten 66.6%. -
