Not Canada,
As an Immigrant from South Africa eight years ago, I came here as a spouse and passed the point system. In my opinion, Canada is sitting on a mountain of knowledge brought in by the spouses of the immigrants, nurses and teachers are the most common amongst the spouses.
My background in Adult Education and Telecommunications seem to have become a burden. Being multi-skilled in Canada is a big no-no on your Resume. I my opinion seems to intimidate most Canadians.
My knowledge has far exceeded the people that I have met in related fields and my experience was unmatched. I had to start at minimum wage in the retail market and was treated like a minimum wage employee. My qualifications and experience far exceeded that of the Store Manager. After working up to 4 part time jobs at a time, I decided to go back to school. Completed a Diploma in Business Administration. In some of my interviews I was rejected because of a lack of either Canadian schooling or Canadian work experience.
I came to Canada to be with my partner. Unfortunately Canadians perceived me as a threat and clearly intimidated by my experience. My perception is that Canadians praise themselves higher than immigrants, even though our education are superior to most.
