heh heh now i know u havent gone in yet. how i know? heh heh.....unarmed combat is not part of the training syllabus in bmt...Originally posted by Shotgun:Oh ya, one thing i've been meaning to ask.
Was ur son kicked during unarmed combat training?
Thats the attitude man. With it your ORD will arrive like lightning even if you're in a shit job with a shit unit. If you have attitudes like Kyo23 then you'll find life draggy even if you're in the most comfy job in the most lobo unit. Its as simple as thatOriginally posted by Shotgun:I believe that it is something I have to do. And the duty of every male citizen to do so. I believe there is no point being whiny about it, since you have to do it anyway. Being afraid of injuries doesn't excuse anybody from it. I believe that Shit happens, no matter how well prepared and trained a person is. And if u die, u die.. no amount of badgering, lawsuits, complaints laments, will revive you. Sad as a death maybe, the SAF still has a job to do. And if you start complaining, criticizing, cursing the SAF, it will only serve to dampen the spirit of new recruits who go in. It will only serve to reduce the morale and faith in their outfit. In the end, who lose? We all lose.

Well, I've seen cases where a private can tell his PC to go to hell in front of the whole company and he wasn't reprimanded. And being a 3SG is no better than being a men in some instances.
Er... Most of my officers don't have an 'A' level cert, they're mostly poly grads. Almost all of them are regulars, actually. But fact is, some of them led so badly that it's like a joke, and I guess the only reason why they did get their rank was simply because they signed on. Sure, there were officers who can lead, but they are few and far between. And men who do give a damn, but apathy sets in. Yes, personally I would like to believe that officers are of such high calibre too. But a spade's a spade, in most cases.

Being a PR from M'sia, or a PR from anywhere else for that matter, in my opinion does not necessarily indicate a lack of loyalty placed in the $AF. I'm half M'sian myself, and have spent the earlier parts of my life shuttling to and fro.
No, perhaps I'm being unfair here by making a generalisation, and the case I've described is an isolated incident in my unit.
A lot of my friends, my ex classmates, are officers, so I roughly do know much about OCS trainings, insofar as much a person who did not go through it himself could.
Our combat units' capabilities? Spending two years in one and discussing our viablility throughout with both Specialists and Officers should be sufficient enough, I think.
I am but a frog in a well, and would appreciate it much if you could enlighten me about your own experiences.

And you don't have to reveal anything if you know nothing, right? I've got officer friends, like I said before, and they work in all formations, including MINDEF, MSD and SMI. I know more than I'd like to.
So in reality, I don't need you to tell me anything. I was just being polite and letting you have a chance to give your 2 cents worth. Too bad, it was just a waste of time on my part. *Shrugz*
You, my dear sir, have just proven my point.
"Alas, dear lad,
My knife point is pressed to your groin."

Remember this, Singaporeans are more 'expensive' than Malaysians.

Such an arrogant fellow, if you are an officer, i really doubt the future of singapore. You might be the one who will initiate a war on singapore just like some big mouth talking without brain accusing indonesia without evidence. So you are any bigshot in singapore since you are in some formation to be talking like that?? SAF officer bigshot?Originally posted by hardware:I don't care if your are born in Singapore mandai zoo, that didn't make you are a "Singaporean". I think you are mistaken, Firstly, who say those who hate the SAF should get out of singapore? 2ndly, can you stop them from coming into singapore, you little nobody? 3rdly, who need your protection at all when the government will protect them? 4thly, those who came into singapore must stay here forever in their life? Can't they think of retiring elsewhere while treating singapore as a working place to earn off bigbuck? Don be so naive. Look in the mirror b4 you tok big or think you are some bigshot who can control who can stay here.Originally posted by mfscrewu:Eyezer, you got my vote on that. For those who hate the SAF, then maybe you should get out of Singapore. Because if you stay, I ain't gonna protect you.
Ask yourself the same question also. If you being thru the shit like me and came out knowing just how to speak vulgar language, then you will reconsider rejoining the shit for another 2.5 years to show your loyalty. Spenting those quality time in education and career would be much better off.Originally posted by Eyezer:Can't understand why Kyo23 is always posting ANTI-SAF sentiments in this forum. Wasting of time, cheap labours, etc. Are you some bloody bloke who probably got abused while in NS(if you've ever been in it!) or just plain dumb?
And i strongly condemn all that speaks ill of the system, it's already bad enough not to be appreciated, but to be humiliated, that's just too much!humiliated or not, it a hard fact that there's nothing good you can tok about NS beside knowing how to wayang.
u new here ah?Originally posted by mfscrewu:Kyo23, just as you are entitled to your view, .
