For the last 2 elections here in Jurong West don't even get to vote.

'Reserves earn Billions - no help to desparate Singaporeans' - and yet, how much will the Elite Leadership spend to hold the 'GIC Board Meeting' in Mumbai, India - for the first time outside of Singapore.
This event do not seem to have been reported in the local papers, but was reported in the Times News Network dated 5 September 2006, and with the event purported to be held sometime this week.
All thirteen Board members flying and living on 'First Class' all the way for the duration of the Board Meeting, expenses fully paid from the Fund; and with an entourage that will probably include accompanying second tier senior executives and personal assistants.
This will be 'quite a quiet party' - with Singaporeans taking the tab without even us knowing. -

Like it or not, many of the people are still silent supporters of the Ruling party. When i say silent, i simply mean that while they may disagree with many of the flawed policies the ruling party has enacted, especially from the prominent portfolio holders, there isn't a potential party that can displace them effectively, at least for now. So they continue to badmouth the ruling party, but vote them anyway.
WP has made a significant inroad at the last elections. Let's hope Low Thia Khiang continues to steady the ship and add more spice to his growing support.
At the rate the ruling party continues its decadent track, more and more people will be swayed at the next elections and hopefully, GRCs start to fall to alternatives.
The more the govt implements "take from left pocket put in right" policies, people will continue to be disillusioned and their support base will tumble. The more insensitive and arrogant they get, the more people will vote alternatives just to spite them.
At the consistent and predictable route they are taking, it's just a matter of time for the ruling party. -
