Kudos to the Singapore heads for coming up with this idea. I tink itz great - creates more excitement, greenery, creates jobs, boosts tourim, beautifies the country, earns more foreign exchange, complements the IRs.
Way to go! Whoa, I really salute the heads!
To all the cybics and detractors, better u go jump into the lake!

It is very unusual to embark on a project without even knowing how much the final costs will be; and as matters stand - it will have already cost Singaporeans at least a few million in tax payers' money to prepare the Tender Documents to engage the Design Consultants; and another few million dollars will have to be paid for Design Consultation Fees; and how many more millions to be spent further to arrive at the unknown 'Hundreds of Millions' for this Gardens by the Bay.
Are you not being too premature with your immature exhuberance about jobs when even the blur Minister MBT does not even know how much it will cost for these Gardens by the Bay ?
Dream on if you believe that foreign exchange will roll in from this multi-million dollar investment in beautifying this part of the Singapore city which is far away even from downtown Shenton Way that no Singaporeans will even go.
Are you being realistic in expecting tourist to fly into Singapore just to visit this artificial garden created by foreign talents in the heat of the day ?
Even with the possibility of enclosing the entire garden development in some air-conditioned cocoon, can the operating costs be covered with chargeable fees to enter the Gardens ? At what price will the fees be charged that will not discouraged foreign travellers to fly in ?
Who will want to pay to visit these Gardens that is located in three different parts of the Marina South area, and with each garden covering a wide area on its own, and separated from each other by the Marina Bay ?
Will tourists be bothered to see all three huge gardens when on a tight tour plan of only 3 to 5 days stay in Singapore, and when so many other interesting places are dotted all around Singapore ?
Is it justifiable to throw an uncertain sum to develop this Gardens Project to be built on land that has been reclaimed at such high costs ?
How long will these Gardens stay in place - after being created by spending 'hundreds of millions' - before it is given up for more high value added construction to take over the Gardens area ?

i seriously don't think these 3 million-dollar gardens will be dug up so easily as they are part and parcel of the IR at Marina Bay. The govt will die die want to throw money to maintain them.Originally posted by Atobe:

You will stay one more day in Singapore just to admire the flowers?Originally posted by lotus999:i seriously don't think these 3 million-dollar gardens will be dug up so easily as they are part and parcel of the IR at Marina Bay. The govt will die die want to throw money to maintain them.
may be the govt is hoping the tourists will extend the number of days of their stay in Singapore?
