LTA stupid or what?

They place a camera along Eunos Link just before the turning into PIE.
Those who goes into the bus lane to turn into PIE gets a fine...
They get a fine even when no buses were using the bus lane.
So what have they achieved? Remove inconvenience for buses? No there were no buses using the lane.
Promoted unsafe road practice? Yes.
Forcing so many motorists to change lane at the last moment before turning into PIE makes it more hazardous. -
Much has already been said - about LTA's brilliance - in the thread : 'Online View of LTA - Millions spent with little in return'.
Yes, you are truly right that LTA is as brilliant in their thinking as the flash from the 'Traffic Light Camera'; however, such brilliance is merely momentary and seldom produce everlasting positive effects to benefit anyone.
Their penchant for putting all kinds of camera goes against all logic.
Along the CTE, PIE, ECP, BKE and KJE - LTA and the Traffic Police seems to be obssessed with Singaporeans travelling beyond the speed limit of 90kmh.
Each time during peak hours - or not - drivers will be seen to step on their brakes in anticipation of arriving in front of these Speed Cameras, causing the heavy flow of traffic to slow down from a regular speed of 80kmh to approximately 50-60 kmh - (or to 70-80kmh during off-peak hours).
Such long lines of vehicles will back-up for over two kilometers before the camera and all crawling at a turtle-like 'stop-start-stop' speed - as evident in all the Expressways during peak hours.
This has been the cause of multiple vehicle bumper-to-bumper accidents - some occurring at higher speeds during off-peak hours.
These Speed Cameras act like a valve on a water pipe, and throttle the flow of the water through the pipe.
What was the purpose of building expressways ? Was it not to deliver a high volume of traffic at the highest and safest speed possible ? Why bother to add cameras with a purposeful designed dummy camera back so that no-one will know which side the camera is facing ?
All these can only end up with drivers beating the Speed Camera by slowing down before arriving at its position, and speeding off at BEYOND the speed limit after the camera position.
Has the Singapore Economy succeeded based on every driver observing the various speed limits of 50kmh, 70kmh, 80kmh, and a maximum of 90kmh ?
How often have we seen - on a daily and hourly basis - at all times of the day, cars zipping along even on minor trunk roads, such as Upper Bukit Timah and Upper Thomson Road, at a speed of 90kmh in a 70kmh restricted area ?
Even the 3 lane carriage way - in each direction - from AMK Ave 3, to Hougang Ave 3, to Jalan Eunos, to Sims Avenue are imposed with a speed limit of 70kmh at 24hours a day, irregardless of traffic volumes.
Yet, cars are zipping past at 80 to 90kmh along this artificially suppressed speed of 70kmh.
Throughout Singapore, cars are zipping by at speeds of 10-20kmh above the artificially suppressed speed of 70kmh.
At 70kmh, all kinds of vehicles will have to drive on 3rd gear throughout its journey, and travel time will have to be increased by at least 30 minutes.
Can the Singapore Economy arrive at its present status at this speed of 70kmh ?
Singaporeans have been cheated by LTA and the Traffic Police, who knows that everyone is driving at speeds 10-20kmh above the officially set speed, and found this to be safe.
Yet it has been a convenient revenue generating format to simply catch Singaporeans for speed violation, when none actually exist. -

But I say that camera is more for revenue raising. The same can be said for putting speed traps in school zones in Perth. Well-meaning motorists who warn others to watch their speeds when approaching the area are hauled off to court because they are depriving the relevant departments of revenue earned from fines. -

funnily, just because someone is a scholar doesn't mean they are wise or knowledgeable. it just means they are good at mugging, and not much else. Furthermore, the reason they're so good at mugging is only because they stand to benefit. It seems that LTA is being staffed with ignorant pencil pushers filled with delusions.
After having been challenged repeatedly by real motorists over their abject failure in controlling traffic flow, they continue to insist that ERP is the way to go, and even present undisclosed timing data to prove it. But without being made freely available to the public, there is no way to verify or disprove their theory.
It's like saying:
LTA: Here's my data that proves my idea works!
Member of the Public: May i see it?
LTA: Sorry, that information is not available.

In one hand, they present an obviously flawed strategy, in the other, they conveniently fill their own coffers.
Yes, LTA are really deluded into believing the average singaporeans to be morons. While they sit in their 'nerve center' and sip iced lemon tea, their speed cameras at 'strategic' locations throughout the island are creating mayhem. The principle cameras that have been ridiculed in the past include those at CTE super-junction, PIE-BKE junction and the BKE-KJE junction.
Not only do they unnecessarily slow traffic to just over 30km/h, they create pandemonium for the filters entering the CTE, which so coincidently link at the same location as the speed camera.
Along the way, they just happen to be involved in a tunnel collapse, a paralaysed cyclist and is evidently plagued by virual bouts of inefficiency.
Perhaps our LTA can include Kaizen concepts into their workscope so they don't merely rest on their laurels and indulge in self-congratulatory speeches like their ministers.
Like it or not, the LTA is in dire need of serious reform. -

That portion is already deducted from your personal income tax.
