Singapore joined the Federation in 63, left in 65. While it is true that 1 and 2 SIR were part of the Royal Malay Army during the Kota Tinggi ambush, both units were raised and based in Singapore, only moving to Peninsula Malaysia and Borneo on a temp basis during the Confrontation Years. In fact, Perino and the others had been picked up, but not without some trouble. The lieutenent and about six other men, Rangers and some D-boys, were the last ones on the street when what looked like the last vehicles approached. The exhausted soldiers shouted and waved but the MALAYSIAN driver paid him them no mind until one of the D-boys stepped out and leveled a CAR-15 at him. He stopped. If one read the account of "Black Hawk Down", you'll remember how the Rangers said that they felt like Gods down there, cos the Skinnies were terrible shots. Its was only when the fire intensified did they start takin hits.
In anycase, no doubt, MAF units have been underfire in Mogadishu. That is rather irrefutable. Their APCs were there to help evacuate the Rangers and Delta. AK-47s pinged their vehicles, yes. Question is, did they retaliate? Were they direct combatants? Have they involved themselves in situations where THEY were the enemies? Communist insurgency? The soldiers fighting that war are probably dead by now. Combat Experience? Pui! The real combat begins when you don't get the resources to fight the war. -
Seriously, we should also consider giving away our 100 odd A4S ground attack and 50 odd F5S interceptor to military cash strip Philippines complete with simulators once our new asernals arrived, I believe they need that desperately

yah... it will still be coming strong at u if u throw stones at it... and its pretty resistant towards small arms fire =P which really isn't saying much for a light tank...
so yeah... its crap. Its main gun's too small to be effective, its armour is too light to be survivable and its engine is not very powerful... ever saw one get caught in triple-con wire but that could be cos they use crap machines to train.
It was a good deterrent 10, 15 years ago, but its just sitting duck and an armoured coffin on tracks by today's standards. -

From the AMX-13 design it seems more like a SPH rather than a LIght Tank
.It is not build to fight frontline battle from SAF point of view it acts more SPH providing arti support
since singapore's version of M109 is in construction and engineering
I believe SAF wouldnt take long to phrase the AMX-13 out TOTALLY..This machine looks SUCK AWEful looking
at least the Bionix is not that eye- sore compare to AMX-13 i just cant help it to melt this scrap metal.
A combination of Bionix,M113,Spike,Igla,Sar21,apache singapore invincible to any aggressor from SEA region -

Invincible?...nah. Nothing is certain in war...must see the top brass how they utilise the assets. But we will make it a very tough fight for anybody who tries. -
