While CSJ is not perfect, he is idealistic. What I find disturbing is the apathy among Singapore students.Originally posted by NUS_Superst@r:CSJ will win against "glorified evils". I support him cos not a lot of ppl will be like him, stand out and fight for a needed cause.
Only apathethic mindlessly brainwashed will people conclude in such simplistic terms. Educated thinking people who try to see things in the true perspective will conclude like this guy below:Originally posted by tt3:but is garmen doin a gd jobso u tryin 2 say

i like that idea...but too bad...nowadays even friends oso won't fight with you...Originally posted by gUms:ppl are willing to fight , but everyone who fights needs support , the problem is no one gives support and not willing to stand next to u and fight with u , most are ballless , u shake dem abit , they wobble like crazy .
last time ppl more daring to take a stand , cos u know your whole kampong will fight with and for u .
Oh yea, there will be people who will 'fight' with you, but only if you really know what you're 'fighting' for. Problem with some Singaporeans is that they are quick to blame everything on the government. I've seen countless posts that's anti-PAP/LKY/any authorities.Originally posted by R3SsH|n:i like that idea...but too bad...nowadays even friends oso won't fight with you...
You might think so, that you have 2 sides of the story. Actually you do not. You have only one side, the propaganda... you cannot have 2 sides because you live in an oppressive society that does not allow free speech and free press... but I understand you, you have no choice... you were never given the choice...Originally posted by nanren4ever:there's always 2 sides to a story.
Local media potrays CSJ as someone dangerous, someone who do crazy things.
Foreign media potrays CSJ as a hero of sorts, someone who stands up to the "oppressive" system in his own country.
Its up to the individual to believe what he wants 2 believe.
I believe in the former.
I believe in the latter, and I am proud to say that as a Singaporean.Originally posted by nanren4ever:there's always 2 sides to a story.

I mean why not even pay Dr Chee a visit... just walking past him on a public road is no crime... why no sms-ing to each other to pay him a visit?Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:I beg to differ.
True, some may be apathetic, but most, I would say, are just plain scared. Look at the number of lawsuits for just saying one wrong thing and being sued till one is bankrupt bla bla bla, scares people off. They would rather not discuss about it, lest they get sued.
I know, you know, we know, that's all it's needed.
Not just for students, it's prevalent even in the previous generations.

I've said scared. They assume that it's an offence to purposely pay him a visit. You walk past, you take a look and walk off, it's OK.Originally posted by onceinabluemoon:I mean why not even pay Dr Chee a visit... just walking past him on a public road is no crime... why no sms-ing to each other to pay him a visit?
Maybe more pple dislike him than like him? Maybe not all pple like the type of freedom that he says he's fighting for. If he is to become the government, is he going to force pple to be free? A great deal of criticism about the lack of democracy in Singapore stems from the result that there's very little opposition in Singapore. These pple already perceived that there must be a lot of opposition in the Parliament and anything result contrary to their wishes is not democracy. They simply assume that anyone who hold a contrary view to them are not thinking or brainwashed. Could someone not go through critical thinking and adopt a different stand? By not respecting pple who adopt different stand, how different are these pple from the pple that they are "fighting" against. These pple are not different from the "oppressor" that they are against, they are just oppressors personalties not in oppressing positions. The idea of democracy is to allow different type of pple in the same camp, not to have the same type of pple in different camp.Originally posted by onceinabluemoon:I mean why not even pay Dr Chee a visit... just walking past him on a public road is no crime... why no sms-ing to each other to pay him a visit?
