How to have more top foreign talent and talented people?

Governement is always stressing on human resources as sg is a small country. Human resources is critical on sg future and econ... So they r talking abt having the best talent is critical and since sg is small,talent is limited and sacred..
Why sg has a hard time attracting talent to sg?
Is it becos sg has a small population?
US has such a big population but every year it still needed to attract a huge influx of talent and they seems have no problem doing that...
Sg seems have a lot of problem doing that even with so many incentives and simplier paper work and less strenous requirement for talented foreigner getting in here...Why?
COS WE LACK FREEDOM AND OPENESS OF OUR PRESS. Singapore and anybody inside these piece of island are unable to really have a say in the governning of sg. THEY DO NOT HAVE FREEDOM OF SPEECH..
What is called talent and elite? A group of people with brains. A group of people with brains become willingly to be control by government and have no say in governing of sg???
R u nuts? If they allow u to control so easily,then they will not be called TALENT,right?
Why so many talented peole of sg left? They wanted to have a say of governing of sg with their talent but government don allow them..So they left and sg suffer drain of own local talent and need to refill this gap with foreign talent. BUT....talented foreigner see sg s*cks,cos once they reach here. They have no room to express their thinking and no freedom. That is why USA is still the number one destinated country for all talented immigrants with their openess on freedom. Some talented migrant not solely for the sake of finacially perspect but freedom and government system.
In the end what happen to sg? Those who so called FT migrant to sg actually r not that talented and only looking to earn big bucks and don care a Sh*t what will happen here in future and they will left as soon as their motive is achieved. If Singapore reallys want to attract true FT that will contribute to Singapore.
PLEASE,PLEASE,PLEASE open up Singapore and allow yr own fellow citizens to truely have a say in the governning of Singapore and more transparency without the threat of being sued until bankrupt! -

Have you seen the number of top scientists we have attracted to Singapore? I have been accused of stealing their top brains each time I visit a top research centre in UK.
These scientists aren't too concerned about the lack of human rights and civil liberties. They come because of the availability of funding and the liberal policies which enable them to undertake research. -
Because their sector is not that concerned with a climate for liberal expression. However, even the flap between A*STAR and Johs Hopkins is well documented. Climate forms the basic underpinning of individual thought and behavior. Perhaps not in the Life Sciences, but it is very palpable in the Social Sciences community. -
I hope the government officials are not in a denial over the IMF fiasco. Back in the pre 97 Hong Kong days, there were so many citizenships thrown at the Hongkongers but there were so few takers. Has it not been the Singapore track record so far, in that what we do not have we either entice or purchase ?
Foreign talents in the sports of table tennis, badminton, football, were all attracted by the wages and enticement of citizenship.
Foreign specialist have been recruited to help advance the operations of our Stock Exchange, DBS Bank, and even in Military Research & Development works.
If this exercise is not a vain attempt to boost the psychological pride of Singaporeans, similar to Malaysia's Mahathir's effortst to instill national pride in Malaysians and to create a 'Malaysia Boleh' spirit ?
Why should these scientists be concerned with the political environment of Singapore and Singaporeans' future ?
If their goverments had allowed it, these Scientists would have gone over to some countries in the Communist Soviet Bloc, or even to Communist China forty years ago - when these countries tried also to attract foreign scientific talents in a global struggle for geopolitical supremacy.
What they could not get, the Soviets and the Communist China stole the designs by espionage or by reverse engineering.
Is the Singapore methods today any different from the efforts of other countries since the 1960s ?
Can we expect any sense of allegiance or gratitude from these Scientists?
If there are any political or external interference in their research works, there will be nothing to prevent the Scientist from breaking the contract and leave ahead of schedule.
The Scientists are only interested in their research, and they will sell their principles in order to get the funds to continue with their own interests.
When their research is completed, the Scientists will pack up and move on, unless funds are available to continue some other new areas of challenge. -

Real FTs w or w/o paper qualificatios is w/o merit but one must has an analytical mind and skill 2 contribute to our country n the enviroment here must be conducive for them 2 come n live (not stay only oh!!)in. -
A*STAR has no problems attracting top notch researchers, that's why John Hopkins was kicked out. They did not fulfill the terms of the agreement to bring their top researchers over because they wanted them for themselves back home.
People work for the money, for the job satisfaction and personal career development. Whilst they are contracted to us, we pay them and they deliver the goods....period.

Just imagine even in a 100% muslim country like Brunei,they also openly soliciting prostitution regardless of fine n jail term. -
