I thought that "marginalised" son-in-law of Pak Lah had once said "Singapore Malays are marginalised". That statement was made a week or two before LKY made his statement about Malaysian Chinese.
Why they can say bad things about us and we cannot say about them?

On a bilateral basis, since their separate ascension to their respective national positions in their respective countries, did Badawi or Bambang make any attempt to co-erce LKY and Singapore to be compliant - in the same manner as Mahathir and Habibie had handled the bilateral relations between our countries ?
What do you expect to read in the Malaysian vernacular news ?
It is obvious and expected that MM LKY's statement is fanning the waning emotional ambers of racist hatred and envy of the 1960s - in Malaysia and Indonesia.
LKY is doing a disservice to the fragile governments of Badawi and Bambang, when both have extended their hands to Singapore in seeking peace and joint-prosperity.
The fire is now stoked up and being fan stronger in the vernacular papers in Malaysia, with their oppressed ethnic groups finding the courage to speak out in support of LKY's comments.
Has LKY's comments been ACCURATE in judging the CURRENT OFFICIAL POLICY of Badawi and Bambang towards Singapore ?
Is LKY not clearly meddling in the DOMESTIC RACIAL POLITICS of Malaysia and Indonesia ?
Is LKY helping Singapore with his personal critique of Malaysia and Indonesia's CURRENT OFFICIAL POLICY towards Singapore ?
If racial tension were to rise further in Malaysia and Indonesia - as a result of his comments - will any outbreak of racial violence in Malaysia and Indonesia be beneficial to Singapore's Economy and the stability of this Region ?

Yes, clearly. That is why you have some nationalists reacting very strongly (to the bridge issue). This is Singapore, our neighbour - setting aside that it is a difficult neighbour - but still the subtle racist undertones to my mind is very irresponsible on his (Mahathir's) part. On the project itself, I don't know how anyone in his right mind in this modern times, can even consider of unilaterally proceeding with a project which involves another country, short of going to war. -

firstly let me introduced myself...im a Malay and Malaysian citizen....very new to this forum as u can see this will be my first reply....i find your people views and ideas are very interesting but lack only one thing.....views from true malaysians...
hopefully i can fill that gap and tried to answer any question which you dont quite understand about your big brother up noth (joking bout the big brother thinggy)....
there is some point where what MM LKY adressed which i agreed.....tho' personally i feel is not that rite for him to address bout ur neighbour internal affairs (unless the consequences involves you directly). I give an example like if ur neighbour....husband and wife quarelling bout their relationships.....basically is none of my concern rite (tho' it will be interesting to know what they are quarelling about) but still is not my rite to intervene.....but if every night they quarell loudly, with all the screaming, sound of broken things, crying, etc. etc effects your sleep and the rest of your family.....then u have the rite to intervene but not to go an act like a judge or law enforcer....but enough to just ask for lil' bit of tone down volume....then u go and lead ur normal life.......hope u understand what i meen....and this is not just on LKY or anybody that represent singapore, but to malaysian government as well....its just not rite.....the issues should be brought up by Malaysian own chinese community and the whole community should support the cause if they acknowledge that the system is wrong.....there is few chinesse opposition which does stand up (mainly opposition from DAP which is offshoot of ur own PAP) but generally the malaysian chinesse dosnt quite agreed with their vision (its afacts because Barisan Nasional keep on winning and winning for all many general elections that we malaysian have been through....). So maybe i will soaund lil bit biassed but the malays should not bear the blame alone....but chinese leadership who agreed with the idea should be blame also...wasnt it?
but back to the topic...i quite agree with what LKY said (izit ok for me to addressed the honourable man just as LKY or i need to addressed him something else?) bout the chinese in Malaysia......which bassically it narrowed down to the bumi rites....i will like to remind u me myself is a malay, a youth member o the rulling party, my dad is one of the cabinet members, and my family from generation is staunch supporter of Malay dominance....but i myslef some of the rites i do not agreed at all.....at first i do not agree all of them but been sured by suprisingly ....my friends and colleague from DAP that some of the rites are okay and acceptable...
we had and open mind and gentlemen table talk about this sensitive issues and they give few example which rites are okay and which are not....for example the rite that hold by the sultan and raja of various malaysian state...for me i said we pack all of them in a room give them a piece of keriss each and make a true battle royal....or royal battle which ever way that suit u and the winner become our one and only king....my debate is why should we have so many of thosed money wasting icon.....better if we just become a republic but since malaysian need an icon let just do with one....but my dear chinesse friend said malaysian is basically a federation....and i quote him.."this sultans and raja's ancesstors is basically the leadear/founder of each petty kingdoms....so as an honour...it is granted to them the tittle and position as they are"

then i ask him what about purchassing rites.....for example property development need to reserved 30% of their sales for bumi.....he said that its okay....again i quote him....."population wise the non-bumi is around 40% of the country....we got chances to grab 70% of the property on that particular development....matter of fact....if im not mistaken after certain time the developers can sell it to non bumi if there is no other bumi buyers want to purchased the property......"

there is few other subject that he seems okay with the idea of bumi rites and it will i dont remember it all but i gave you peeps a few that which he and me myself doesnt agree with the policies

there is few of other issues that we both agreed that is not rite but it will be too long for me to list them all....basically i summarised my thought that the bumi rite should be abolished not totally but gradually.....for me the intention was good.....bridging the economic gap of bumi and non-bumi.....it basically does work but since its been to long it start to backfired.....a reformation is needed.....either from outside of the government or inside of the government....i wont mind...

Ok...LKY had already apologized....but..what's more interesting..is the annex attached, whereby , there are approximately 17 accounts . in which M'sia Government had oppenly and officially commented on S'pore- in marginalizing the malays.
What is disturbing is that..when u comment on someone's country..u never take into account your neighbours' feeling. But when ur neighbour said something similar...they make a whole new firecracker - atomic bomb out of it.
Simple- racist discrimination or not...it is for those who have a clear and conscious mind and heart to decide. Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, Hindu..and other religions..they spread the word of God, but applying it..is truely something. -

*p.s= i do realize that there is alot of malaysian citizen holding a singaporean PR in this forums.....but what i think they dont have is insight of mentality of a malay in UMNO and government.....i live my life through it and its not preaty....now there is my difference then others... -

They also pay tax and are singaporean too, no matter how much we voice our concern, the PAP still have it their way of running things their way. So I hope the people should be the benefitiary of the system. Of course, in this case, its not about race, but about politics, but such are life.... we still need to move on.
Sometimes, I just wonder, what makes LKY says something like that even though I suspect most of us here knew about the marginalisation... but why broach up the subject. Afterall, like you said, the DAP also has its part to say about excepting certain policies which inevitibly leads to the lob sidedness of policy tilling to the Bumi... they are also responsible for creating such a situation..... ... -
Personally dude.....sometimes i think LKY should just let hes son do the talking...but at least now u understand that even in the opposition say there is some of the bumi rights is okay to exist but some of it need to be rectify. But DAP is not that strong.....they said they fight for malaysian but u can only see them fielding candidate only in towns and chinese majority areas.
