PM says get things changed when you are unhappy with!

LHL told young ppl to get things changed on what they are unhappy with.Well said, PM!
In order to realise his call,I have the following opinions:
1. The govt should be receptive & facilitate changes proposals which are intitiated by the ppl.
2. PM & his ministers can show leadership by initiate changes more regularly.They are paid to do political work while the ppl are not.
3. Would the govt prepare to give incentive or rewards for such kind of endeavor?I think it should. -
say only mah.

1. They are receptive in listening to you, then they facilitate by either telling you off, or jumping onto you.
2. They have initiated many changes - bringing in more FTs to improve our country, implementing heavier penalties for this and that, etc.

So many businesses cannot survive and people cannot find jobs and are leaving due to wrong policies of the past. Government has refused to change many of these wrong policies of the past. So busiesses continue to close shops and people are leaving for greener pasture.
Double-taxing on land and triple-charging on vehicle is one wrong policy. Tax-and-recover system is another wrong policy.
Government should change all these wrong policies and encourge all the smaller businesses to grow with supportive procurement policies. Do not close all doors on the smaller guys so that all could go into business.
NTUC and GLCs should stop competing against its own people for a living and allow them to do well and create jobs.
Because of all these wrong policies, government has caused unhappiness and migration and finally has to resort to people importing in the name of foreign talents.
We still have not attracted many top talents despite all the FT policy and those who are imported are none other than those we already have in large number. This kind of importing of people does not add values to our economy or create new technology start-ups.
Instead of importing lawyers, accountants, doctors, insurance people and business adm graduates we should import scientists and technologists who could help to branch out in new technology applications and start-ups.
So if government really and sincerely wants to change it should change the root causes of unhappiness and migrations - high costs of living and failure to create new technology start-ups due to conceptual leadership.
So where is the change if government insists on its right to stay firm on all the high-cost policies and discriminatory recruitment practices favoring only the few elites.
If there is the change the change should be to favor and give more opportunities to its own citizens, treat them fairly so that they will not have to migrate elsewhere to seek better jobs and higher pays.
If government stays firm on its pro-foreign policy and does not do anything to address the root causes whatever the change will be of little use but only false pretences to cover up old problems. -
that's why we need an independant press and not one which is so unashamedly pro-government.
the masses are not going to be neutrally informed. and what talk of change? we are not stupid nor do we have eternal patience of their antics. -
Hmm, inviting people to speak up and be heard for the progress of the nation, letting intellectuals come forth and make their contribution to society by letting the government know what they think....

You said it all. Your shutter is really working. Where the heck did all the US$120 billions of reserves come from.

If there is change from all the wrong kiasu policies of the past, the reserves could have doubled up by now. Why should reserves not go up if people could benefit from lower costs of living and businesses could become vibrant again and get the fillip. Now the costs of doing business is so high that most of the domestic sector is still in the doldrum despite the world recovery and government sector like the GLCs doing well.
What negative mindset of the current leaders that lowering costs will create welfarism and increasing reserves is the only way to go. Reserves will increase even more once the economy is moving from the current rut. -

I read some time back that one vocal Singaporean who voiced his unhappiness on matters related to the govt got badly labelled in the papers.
Can't imagine what will happen to the fella/gal who steps out to get things changed (and stepped on the wrong toes).

What he meant is that if anyone is unhappy, there is nothing he can do. People should change their mindset and accept their lot here and delude themselves into happiness. If that fail, then they are welcome to change their medication from panadol to prozac or change their home address to Hougang Chalet
