they should be greatful to LKY for telling them the truth... or do they prefer to hear it from PRC/INDIA leader's mouth?Originally posted by nanren4ever:While LKY is speaking the truth, I think its rather insensitive to comment on other countries and how they treat their citizens.
I'm just thankful I'm born in the right country where I'm in the majority.

actually most malaysian chinese are looking for a way to leave malaysia, but are limited by circumstances they are in.... like having learns decades of economically worthless malay language that limited their global transnational mobility.(unless they wanna move to indonesia)Originally posted by valentinoo:please lah..its all due to currency exchange...im sure they only wanna study and work here..but in the end live in malaysia![]()

in malaysia, chinese education and work are being potong by the malaysian malay govt.
and based on what assumption did you think the chinese in malay are able to converse only in the so called 'decades of economically worthless malay language that limited their global transnational mobility?' mind u, most malaysian chinese are just as trilinqual as we are.. and r u racists? when u pointed out that malay language is worthless, do u mean we should abolish our national anthemn and sing it in English instead? mind u.. attking another countires policy is one thing, but attking a language when its part of s'pore cultural heritage is another no matter wat others say, its like shooting yourself on your toe..Originally posted by tripwire:actually most malaysian chinese are looking for a way to leave malaysia, but are limited by circumstances they are in.... like having learns decades of economically worthless malay language that limited their global transnational mobility.(unless they wanna move to indonesia)

fact is fact.. reality is not aways rosey... the fact of the matter is... malay as a language has lower economic value.. that is an undeniable fact... no matter how diplomatic you try to be.Originally posted by 4getmenot:and based on what assumption did you think the chinese in malay are able to converse only in the so called 'decades of economically worthless malay language that limited their global transnational mobility?' mind u, most malaysian chinese are just as trilinqual as we are.. and r u racists? when u pointed out that malay language is worthless, do u mean we should abolish our national anthemn and sing it in English instead? mind u.. attking another countires policy is one thing, but attking a language when its part of s'pore cultural heritage is another no matter wat others say, its like shooting yourself on your toe..![]()
There will always be people who are happy or unhappy in all places. I'm sure some Africans are also happy in their respective countries even though their economies are poor. I wouldn't go as far to say that most Malaysian Chinese are, but if you compare Malaysian Chinese and Singapore Chinese, then probably a larger percentage of our Malaysian counterparts would like to leave their country because of the Bumiputra policies.Originally posted by valentinoo:how come some of the chinese i know are happy there.? cheap house cheap car..have their own shops....and anyways beside malay they do study English what...they r lots of malaysian who migrated to australia..now r u telling me they dunno english? neways if they feel learning malay is worthless..then they shouldnt be even living there..malaysia is not saying its an english country...whats so hard about moving..they can come to singapore...singapore will welcome em with open arms..give scholarships everything
fact is fact.. but i dun see you making claims to back up your 'facts'.. of course it does make it even more easier when you insert 'reality' into it... in case u don't know, the language 'malay' is distinctively related to the race 'malay', and in case you didn't know also or forgot, the first inhabitants in singapore were malays as well. And by discrediting malay as a language, u are indirectly discrediting malays as a race as well? am i wrong to say tat? your posts seem to suggest that.Originally posted by tripwire:fact is fact.. reality is not aways rosey... the fact of the matter is... malay as a language has lower economic value.. that is an undeniable fact... no matter how diplomatic you try to be.
and frankly... its purely out of respect for our malay brothers and perhaps history, that we kept our anthem in malay...
though previously... our anthems wording in malay was probably due to "insurmountable regional geopolitical" difficulties during the formative years of national independence.
nevertheless... if you have to study 3 languages.. how many singaporeans do you think, would put malay as first language?
think you got the wrong pic...Originally posted by 4getmenot:fact is fact.. but i dun see you making claims to back up your 'facts'.. of course it does make it even more easier when you insert 'reality' into it... in case u don't know, the language 'malay' is distinctively related to the race 'malay', and in case you didn't know also or forgot, the first inhabitants in singapore were malays as well. it wasnt that wrong too when mahathir say malay in singapore are marginalise too. why there arent so many malay in armed forces?
somethings are better left alone. for politics veteran like him, he simply has lost touch.
Although your comments (all comments leading to what i have quoted) are bigoted and caustic in nature, I'd have to agee with you that the malay language have little (or no) economic value. I hope it will change for the better.Originally posted by tripwire:think you got the wrong pic...
the declining value of malay language... was not the result of malays as a race... but due to the poor administration of malay economy... namely the deplorable state of malaysia and especially indonesia economy.
the malay as a language shares equal status as all languages around the world... but its economic value is a direct reflection of our neighbour.
