Electricity tariffs will go up by an average of 2.3 percent

SINGAPORE : Electricity tariffs will go up by an average of 2.3 percent or 0.49 cents per KWh (kilo-watt hour) between October 1 and December 31 this year.
SP Services explains that electricity price is pegged to the forward price of fuel, which is higher for the next quarter at $88.52 per barrel, compared to $87.49 per barrel previously.
Fuel cost makes up 55 percent of the cost of electricity.
The tariffs are reviewed every quarter and adjusted in line with fluctuation of fuel oil prices.
The tariff adjustments have been approved by industry regulator Energy Market Authority.
The next review will be in December. -
During the last quarterly review it was adjusted upwards.
The drop in crude oil to a six 6-month low meant nothing for the Energy Market Authority!

SP explained that future poredicted oil price is going to shoot sky high and therefore it is justifiable to preempt this rise by increasing the price of electricity tarriffs.

Oil prices dropped recently. Surely they predicted months ago, it was going to be higher but man, are they so wrong and even more wrong to predict again that it will go higher.
Now that oil prices have fallen, shouldn't they make present adjustments downward for their wrong prediction? Why never do this? Keep the money right? That should be enough.
Since they keep the money, the same justification (prediction) of higher oil prices is deceiving and should be thrown out.

They so good at predicting the increase of oil prices, but never able to forsee a dropped in oil price of lately??? And when it dropped did they decreased tarriffs? No, they conveniently kept quiet. WTF!!!

If me didn't forget, in the last quarter, Singapore Powers mentioned that they had absorbed the inflation of the fuel cost without passing the cost to the consumers, something which they won't do to increase the consumer's burden... A quarter later, they are quoting that they will increase as a forecast and prediction of the possible hike in the fuel cost...
That's a double standard policy they are achieving... -
