Have you guys been on the road regularly?
Then u surely know what bus lane means.
It means no cars can drive on the lane during peak hours. Every morning I see the same police man standing at Payar Laber road and Thomson road amist heavy traffic, taking photos of anyone that crosses the bus lane.
That $80 and 3 points of ur driving license.
My rant is
we pay so much on govt monopolized public transport. we pay so much on road tax. we pay so much on COE we pay so much on petrol, even petrol prices got down recently we pay so much on useless ERP system
And what we get is, instead of road widening and smoother traffic, We get our dear govt narrowing the roads for bus lane.
Does bus service improve? no. SBS and SMRT registered $150mil in profits this year. And they dun even improve their service or at least install air freshener in their smelly buses.
Instead they are going to raise the fares.
WHY WE PAY U SO MUCH AND U WANT TO FURTHER NARROW THE ROAD LANES! 2 TRAVELLING LANES IS A TORTURE!
please up ur bus service standards, or at least do not be so stringent on ur bus lane laws. -
Scrap the bus lane, you can end up waiting longer for a bus
Another thing, cars these days dun even know what's the yellow box used for -
I feel that Driving Centers are qualifying new drivers too easily, that's why we are seeing more and more RIs (Road Idiots).
Authorities should make the driving test more stringent, by also incorporating Common Road Courtesy as part of the qualifying factors.

We should be looking at a combination of events that have led to the increase in malcontents.
Having a bus lane was done with the most noble of intentions. With the aim to free up one lane specifically for buses during peak hours, it worked beautifully at the beginning. However, it failed to take into account the increase in traffic over the years and how to adjust the bus lane concept to match the demand.
In addition, an increasing number of beligerent drivers have been misusing the bus lanes, prompting the TP to take punitive action. Unfortunately, this decline in road ethics has been on the rise exponentially, and the TP do not seem able to cope.
Hence the outsource to traffic wardens which is sparking outrage among law-abiding drivers. With uncertainty over how these wardens are trained or whether the number of summons issued is related to their year-end bonuses, people have written to the press with much disappointment, directing their fury at both the traffic police and the LTA.
On the flip side, traffic light improvements such as the 'B' signal allows buses to move ahead of traffic and prevents cars from cutting their path early on. This is a step in the right direction, and should be developed further. Road designs should be reviewed and more emphasis should be made by LTA officials and traffic officers to perform on-site inspections instead of dreaming up fantasy senarios in their 'nerve centre'. -

New buses which are wheelchair friendly B9TLS are introduced onto the roads by SBST while Circle Line and KPE are under construction. The East-West line is also being extended to Joo Koon.
