The Haze

The rest of the country have been "assisting" the indo neighbour to "combat" the haze for the last nine years.
After so much funding, they have given up and started buying mask.
I guess the physical haze is not scarier that the "mental" haze that every one is suffering about the index.
No need to rely on the index, your nose and eye are the BEST equipment for the haze condition determination.
If u feel uncomfortable, go and see a doctor.
The poodle should be trying to siam paying the medical fees.
That is why even the two chief dogs are yakking overseas and NOT in sg. -

Give them money, the gov and their officials squander it...
Give them equipment they either don't know how to operate or no manpower to operate it...
I have an idea though but it isn't a nice thing to do....

I think it's a good solution; no trees, no vegetation to slash or burn. Since they can never control slash and burn, take away the purpose to start fires - remove trees and vegetation, or permanently arrests its regrowth.

Yeh and not to mention that last night, all parks in Singapore were celebrating Mooncake festival. Candles all over the place! I just wondered to myself, the air is already hazy, why burn some more to contribute?
All the money used to conserve the forests in Indo has probably gone into the pockets of some provincial officials. The way they are going, this country is destined to suffer for another 100 years.

Lets say that Sumatra was a corporation, in 3 days they would be issued with a lawsuit that would shut them down for irresponsibility and take way their rights to operate.
The siutation here is that the Indonesian government appears to little more than mouth apologies and perhaps should be provoked to action
Can a class action suit against Indonesaa be taken by citizens of other countries who are distressed by smoke? If someone can be sued to secondary smoke why not a government?

.... we are looking at, smelling, and breathing in ASEAN solidarity.
Because of POLITICS then, we shall have to live with The Annual Haze.
But if this haze every reaches USA & inconvenienced USA, I am confident that arses will be kicked, and heads shall also roll in Indonesia.

Perhaps the best scenario is having the world slapping Indonesia with some kind of sanction, barring them from all trades with any country until they curb or effectively and proactively solve their forest fires from Slash and Burn practices.
They can't be allowed to go on making a living at the expense of surrounding countries' health and inconveniences. -

Today is particularly bad. I can see the effect of the haze even when looking at things about 20m away!

Can we please build a giant dome then get the carrier man to install air conditions? Thank you mr Prime Minister.
Can we ask the Indonesian government for compensation? Or, if they are amenable, I could take the lead and deal with the problem.
1st step: Slash n Burn is outlawed with immediate effect. Penalty is death, all family assets seized, and family will be forced to grow a beard, wear bulky jackets and sent to the London Underground. -

Yes, the situation definitely appears to have worsened. Today I went out to Bugis and City Hall area and it was really very bad. But I suppose there's not much we can do but pray for the rains to come soon.

If it's less than a month, it's not really too bad lah. I have been to Pakistan twice and the air there everyday is exactly like now. The people there still go about life as per normal.
