What happen to us?

When MM LKY said something about Malaysia, almost the ENTIRE Malaysia reacted. The PM, the ex-PM, cabinet members, party leaders (ruling and opposition), newspaper editors, businessmen, studetns....and the list goes on - voiced their concern and displeasure in the mass media.
BUT when they say something bad about us, it is all quiet on the southern front; and only MM's lone voice is fighting the battle.
Why like that?

MM knows what he is saying, just let him talk.

We cannot anyhow talk. Better shut up.

Not my problem. The Government must solve it.

After repeatedly ignoring people's hardship and problems with the legalistic iron rule for so many years, citizens have seen no benefit in the system and have gradually lost all interest in nation building.
Whatever are the government policies now whether it relates to environment or child births or voluntarism, citizens are not seen as very keen to take part.
Only the grassroot and immediate connections are keen supporters because they would be the beneficiaries and given the rewards.
The few elites who are so proud of the past 41 years of leadership achievement perhaps will be the ones to defend the country when the chips are down. But it is hard to say also in this regard as elites have generally bought their properties overseas and prepared themselves to migrate once there is a crisis. -
We've learnt to shut up over time. Speak up and pay for the consequences.

I think is becos we shut too long. Already forgot how to speak up for right or wrong.. Becos no matter what The citizen say i think as long as is againist them is wrong.. so forgot long time ago...

the malaysians still think LKY speaks for singapore...
we know he's just there to ensure the Dragon Prince consolidates his power.. and we figure he's pointless...
and we KNOW that DrM is an idiot

And because we were raised to be soo obedient, we won't selflessly defend our country unless the higher authority say so. Yes we complain, but we are afraid of what complaining with an open mouth could do to us.

As citizens, it is our duty to be loyal to our country but we should also have to examine whether elites' actions are looking after citizens' interests e.g. squeezing the citizens with higher costs of living or inviting foreigners to compete against their jobs. -
Yah the acid test for our leaders is when in time of war, fight or flight?
I got a feeling all will run. -
Personally, I feel that LKY is in the wrong and he should apologise for
1) meddling in the politics of another countries.
2) His words are not entirely true.
3) Lastly, I don't like him, feel that he is too arrogant and should suffer all the critisms from all directions by himself. -

is that we forget too quickly.. look at the incident with the haze.. it's 10 bloody years of annual haze.. yet after it goes away, we forget..

as and when the time comes when we hav to make a stand...i will be there with all that will hold our arms to defend what that is right...that's when u will see me/ us and that's what we will do coz actions speak louder than words. -
What do you expect us to say? Say that MM is right and Malaysian Chinese is marginalise which leads to more quarrel with our neighbours? or say that he is wrong and stupid to make that statement which we can only do so privately. I think its much easier for him to appologize and put an end to it.

Turth is always ugly, can't argue with Dr M. If they cannot accept can't force them, ppl like to hear good thing. Whether LKY is right or not just ask our malay friends and our chinese relative in Malaysia, they know better.
