LMAO... i was also talking about this remark from the vice president of Indo. imagine a vice president commenting that their president can oni "tick off" the regional ministers and cant do any better...Originally posted by ShutterBug:You guys should go buy and read today's SUnday Times; Indonesia is getting Left-Right-Center from all over the region.
Now I heard even Australia is getting the haze too!
Too all the blasting from surrounding countries, Indonesia remarked; "What more can we do??"![]()
There are inhabitants at Batam so should they move off or be sgreans? I think its hardly appropriate. Even if we want land we will still consider very carefully the TYPE of land that benefits Sg both in short term and long term...more land does not mean a richer or wealthier country, it just shows more of the country's presence in the world map.Originally posted by dragg:since they need money, why not sell batam to us?![]()
The haze is a problem during Asian economic crisis n it seemed as a countryOriginally posted by Anycall:This haze issue has been around for a long time, other asian countries have even supplied financial support to help the stop the burning. Yet, till today this problem still persists.
Obviously the indonesian goverment is totally worthless. Sumatra and Borneo are just 2 states in their country, and they can do squat to keep them in control. What makes them think they can even run the whole country?
And when the head cleric of a publicly known terrorist organisation (JI) is allowed to openly support jihad and terrorisim, with not so much as a slap on the wrist, goes to show how much their goverment is actually in control.
This time, Singapore and Malaysia should join fronts and penalise Indonesia with economic and trade sanctions, maybe then they will start getting their act together.
those asshats got no money to pay.Originally posted by sgboy2004:It is not new, and it has recur, is recurring and will recur.
Can the neighbouring countries make claims against Indonesia for the haze, the opportunity cost and health hazard cost from them? International Court can preside over this?
They also cannot be bothered n look at the Tsunami, they need international help.Originally posted by OO_OO_OO:those asshats got no money to pay.
Well, that's what they get for being corrupted and simply can't be bothered.Originally posted by will4:The haze is a problem during Asian economic crisis n it seemed as a country
Indonesia had problem keeping provices together considering it is made up
of hundred of ethnic group. On the surface, these ethnic group seemed to be able to get along together but it is not actually.
If they continued in this manner, many provinces also likely to become East Timor.Originally posted by Anycall:Well, that's what they get for being corrupted and simply can't be bothered.
Indonesia's province is a training ground for terrorist n it is called Poso in Sulawesi.Originally posted by OO_OO_OO:they're a fcuking usless country la..
make terrorist, make haze, train pirates..
like wtf man.
They are jeapodising the region's wealth and health. Their goverment don't know how to rule and excising necessary law that stop people of starting the fire repeatedly year after year. What i can say is they don't deserve to own such big land. Idealistically they should be overtaken or rule by another capable people. Indonesia is like a time bomb in south east asia, yours and mine life might be shorten if they carry on like this.Originally posted by will4:Indonesia is being governed in poor manner.
I volunteer to help.Originally posted by ShutterBug:You guys should go buy and read today's SUnday Times; Indonesia is getting Left-Right-Center from all over the region.

They don't have money to pay, we accept land for payment. Since they don't know how to manage land and rule country it will be a blessing to thier people that they are taken over by more capable soverign.Originally posted by dragg:since they need money, why not sell batam to us?![]()
Oct 24, 4:34 AM EDTMsia is making noise/complain to indonesia.... and we are praising them for the effort to admit the fire? !@#$%^&
Malaysia says too much talk, no action by Indonesia to prevent haze
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- A Malaysian minister Tuesday criticized Indonesia for failing to stop forest fires that have smothered neighboring countries in a smoky haze, saying there has been too much talk and too little action by Jakarta.
"What has been done so far is not satisfactory. Haze is not (controlled by) a magic wand where you say one or two words and it disappears," Environment Minister Azmi Khalid told reporters.
Parts of Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore have been covered with the gray haze for the past three weeks, causing economic losses and some health problems.
The forest fires, an annual occurrence, are started by farmers or agricultural companies looking for a cheap way to clear brush land for plantations, often palm oil.
Despite promises, the Indonesian government has failed to stop the practice.
At an Oct. 13 meeting of environment ministers, Jakarta was urged by others to ratify a regional treaty to fight the brush fires. Officials will meet again in Jakarta in November before a ministerial meeting in the Philippines in December.
"This is again meetings and meetings and meetings but not much on the ground," Azmi said. "Personally I am not happy with so many meetings when people are suffering. But something is better than nothing," he said.
He said "there are no short cuts" to preventing the haze, which can be stopped only by preventing forest fires.
Heavy rains over the past one week washed away the gray smog and fine particles in the air over Malaysia, but there is still a threat of more haze.
"I am frustrated like every citizen of Malaysia. We are helpless at the present moment. We are thankful that the rain is here," Azmi said.
Although the downpours have caused flooding in some parts of Malaysia, Azmi said people are still thankful. "They are enjoying a better life in the floods than in the haze."
