Free Internet Island Wide for 2yrs?

As above...does anybody actually look forward to it? Its some initiative by the govt. to ensure that all will get internet and none will be left behind despite being poor.
Personally,I'm quite against it..its like with every connection they hook the citizens up, we end up being more tied down by the govt. They will know when we breathe, when we eat, when we fart,what sites we surf and also restrict the sources of information with which we get our information. Its like being in an invisible prison complex where every action is watched and one wrong move, the enforcers will come knocking on your door.
Sighz...why isn't anyone of my generation concerned with the way we are being locked? -

To enjoy the free wireless internet, you have to have a laptop with wireless connection right?(correct me if I'm wrong).
How can the poor who cannot even afford an internet connection even have a laptop?

I don't think this is so much of a conspiracy; just giving us convenience, and maybe making us pay for wireless internet island-wide next time.
Look at the business side of it.

Hey..if you've got a desktop...you can use the wireless connection too.Just need a wireless adaptor...And yes, the wholesome image is that its not some conspiracy...but think about it, they can know of everything you post on the net, your passwords, your views etc...trust me.I'm not being excessively paranoid...but this is Singapore and really, there's no laws protecting the individual's privacy.You can't even go nude in your own home...I mean nothing great about that...but think about it.Originally posted by missqi:"none will be left behind despite being poor"????????

Sometimes,on bus rides..I can't help but feel that we are all living in a prison. Its like...they(you know who) are the warden and we are the slaves. Look at it...the fuel prices has stabalised and fallen...but in SG,our power bills keep going up up up and so does the fuel prices, medical treatment is a neccessity for poor and wealthy...but the charges keep going up up up...many of the investment and property firms are owned by (you know who) or has links to the same person/group of people.
At the end of the day,when we die...we are still indebted to them.Its like the whole population has debts which are ever-mounting. While their piggy banks grow fatter and fatter. End up who suffers? Its us... -
ermm i dun think it is really free internet connection.....just free wireless connection,aka you still need to subscribe to your normal broadband plan then with a wifi card,you can access internet on the go.What is free is the ability to use the internet where,but not the connection itself

Then, you have to pay after two years.

They dont need to do that, dont forget your present whatever connection can also be used to spy on you.

I think it is POSSIBLE for them to monitor all wireless conections or single out certain wireless connections in public. This of course gives them an upper hand in their sense of the word 'security'.
And indeed as someone has pointed out, how could the poor afford a PDA, or laptop to enjoy this 'free' public wireless access?
On the other hand, most of us can afford to use this 'free' public wireless network, but I believe once we're all hooked on the service, in comes the charges.
Remember that they said; "No free lunches..." ?? -
This is something like credit card and mobile phone, it's remind me of what mention in the bible. They can track you down on the location and time. Next up an inplant chip in our body, then you no need ic and credit card or even ez link/cash card. after 2 years there'll be a GST 10% coming up? lol.
nth is free. when we get good things, we pay in another form for it.
PAP pays for it when they need votes too, only difference is they can also
get back us by other ways, one way or another.
its all about $$$.
