recently, the news have been toking abt the case of kindergarten teachers meting out inappropriate punishments on kindergarten kids...parents have complained abt tis... n some of the teachers have lost their jobs...
there was another case concerning the school for the deaf when one teacher made students slap each other...end up she, a supervisor n the principal were sacked...wads ur take on these 2 matters? were the teachers' actions justifiable? -
Calling students to slap each other speaks much of them already.

Unusual punishments metted out by teachers can be curbbed and fine tuned.
But treating students like Emperrors & Empresses, will create a new society of people no amount of Courtesy Campagnes can rectify. -
their actions may be uncalled for but i sometimes pity the teachers for parents nowadays are a complaining lot!

Actually some of the parents who complain ought to be smacked themselves
Teaching their kids all the wrong values etc

just look at the behaviour of kids nowadays and you know how bad the situation has become.
during my school days it was common for teachers to smack our hands with a wooden ruler. -
Spare the rod and spoil the child indeed.

Sue the kids for causing emotional stress on them?

well, at least those teachers were humane enuff nt to mete out prolonged punishments...imagine wad it would have been like if those kindergarten kids had been placed in a dark room for hrs...wad abt the slapping incident? imagine if the punishment was based on duration(continuous slapping for certain amt of time) n nt number of slaps(each student received abt 9 slaps)...it would have been a lot worse...the students would have ended up wif physical injuries...
it is true tat parents nowadays tend to overpamper their children n tat could explain the bad behaviour in schools...n parents often put lots of pressure on teachers to teach the child well yet they r nt to mete out harsh punishments...
maybe tis is y theres a shortage of teachers in singapore... -
