Madam Wu Shuzhen's case is just a sidenote. The taking-the-street case is A-Bian's misuse of funds.Originally posted by pinkish purple papayas:How come Taiwan's president's wife accepted a few SOGO shopping vouchers and the Taiwanese people would go on the streets to rally for months to bring anti-corruption a stop?
How come Singapore's PM's wife squandered $1Billion+ (Shincorp,Micropolis,Optus etc) of Singapore taxpayers money and we Singaporean and Singaporean media can treat as though nothing happened?
Just see the similar Shin Corp saga that happened in Thailand, their country went to a military coup and outed their PM.
Our dear PM ignored the news and made some "diversion" annoucement citing IMF2006 was a success.
Don't u just love being a Singaporean?![]()

Ermm...why don't they invest with their own money? Or at least consult the public interest?Originally posted by TooFree:According to Concise Oxford Dictionary 11th Edition, 'squander' means to waste in a reckless or foolish manner. Though without added definition on the usage of the word but to my humble understanding, the word should or better be use to mean 'spent lavishly' on oneself.
Strictly in business context and in this particular case, perhaps the correct word to use is investment. As far as most are aware, there is no such thing as safe return for any investment so if that is true, arent we Singaporeans behaving more in a rational and gracious manner than the other nations who rally simply for something which they do not know.![]()

Right, people, let's keep ourselves civilised here. Singlish all you want, but try to avoid an argument, kay?Originally posted by NewAge:I noob what noob. u F.
Do u know why i talk abt evidence and acc. The public has never see them before. Whether they are making money or lossing them no one really know. True enough the newspaper did hint that Temasek (hopefully the spelling correct)
make a lost. But do u notice that those who do the talking is neither the Director of the company or managers. The PM still maintain that the investment is right its only wrong on hindsight. My pt is that without solid proof like the accounts u can never truly say Temasek is wrong. Without solid proof no one will dare to make too much noice or they will be sue.

NewAge, if you haven't been reading the newspapers for the past year, then I suggest you do go online and search or go through library records. There HAS been publications on all of these, disbelieve us if you want.
All this talk about "no evidence no talk" is gibberish if you either choose to ignore the substantial evidence or you are simply ignorant.
Either ways, while it is true that the only accounts we can rely on are those of news articles, they nevertheless are still sources of proof. They can be biased, but truth is still truth. If we ever catch our ST misleading the public intentionally we can expect our lawyers to be delighted, don't you think so?
But whoever started this topic does have a point. Are we singaporeans simply too bo chap about these or are we too afraid of prosecution? Is singapore still truly democratic, or is it an autocracy now?
