More people,higher econ. growth rate?

More population,higher economic growth.That was the view of Sg government in 1991.

2.In 1991 ,Sg predicts that in 2030 then population will hit 4.4 million.

Nah with the baby boomers retiring sooner,i think taxes will go up faster, as gahmen later got no money to spend... -
We shouldnt mix up growth of economy and rise in wages standard of living.
The economy can grow tremendously, yet wages and standard of living could have fallen for Singaporeans.
For example a country of 4 million people making shoes. When it has more a population 8 million, it will produce more shoes, but it doesnÂ’t mean their wages will rise. In fact wages could fall due to the larger influx of immigrants.
What about the larger amount of tax collected, will it benefit Singaporeans? We are not sure because the government usually employs "tax and recover all costs". Any increase in tax revenue, may well go into the reserves. -
