the only way to break the vicious cycle of poverty is not only just by providing monetary help.
education is important for children of families living in poverty. only with proper academic qualifications can these children break the cycle.

Even some 40 % jobs go to sporean,a lot of families can be saved from unemployments.

easy to say la.Originally posted by udontknowme:its not just about being poor...
you know...recently, the government has these ads on 'recognizing depression'...well, i think thats pretty much useless.
people dont go and kill themselves just because they dont have cash.
if you are just poor, you'd think of ways to get cash or something.
only the VERY desperate kill themselves.
honestly, i think people need to be educated on stuff like these.
all these years of health education and moral education in school, not a SINGLE thing on mental health![]()
and all they tell us is that commiting suicide is stupid and selfish and irresposible.![]()

which is probably how a mentally healthy person thinks. but IF you are mentally sound, you wont have to worry about anything like that.

A production operator who works 12 hour shifts with only a day off a week can take home $1,000 per mth. If she only earns $500, probably it's p/t.
Maybe the deceased has some gambling habit or some illness himself, otherwise, i don't see why the cause for suicide. So many families out there with 2 kids, having a household income of $1,000 plus a month are getting by.
money again! if no such an amount of money are in place here who would bother to even ask about the family. what i say is the money should be used to ensure the 2 boys complete their education...it should be more than enough and should earn substantail amount of put in the right banks. once either the boys are able to work and look after the family i think the remainder of the mooney can be used to service other families in need.Originally posted by googoomuck:There's happy ending.
Donations have exceeded $300K. Good samaritans have offered to help the victim's two children complete their general education(A Levels).
Legally, no one is responsible for the man's suicide.
However, morally, some people fcuked up......school principal, Singapore Powers and those people whom he had approached for help but they looked at him with suspicion instead.
If there's a God, I pray that He shove a hot cattle prod up their ASSES.
Exactly....the money is more than enough for the boys' education (I managed mine education with far less on government scholarships). What is important is that the boys work hard to get as good an education as they are capable of.Originally posted by pipipopo:money again! if no such an amount of money are in place here who would bother to even ask about the family. what i say is the money should be used to ensure the 2 boys complete their education...it should be more than enough and should earn substantail amount of put in the right banks. once either the boys are able to work and look after the family i think the remainder of the mooney can be used to service other families in need.
I agree. He could have enrolled in a BEST and WISE programme, followed by one of the part-time Nitec and ISC programmes run by ITE. For funding, he could have approached CDAC for a training award. If he has a job, his employer can send him under SDF sponsorshop as well.Originally posted by ShutterBug:Anyway, I see that this case in which the man committed suicide due to his lack of funds, is pretty much his own doing.
