True. And the place where one can save oneself is in the mind. No change of mindset, no change in behaviour.Originally posted by the Bear:thing is.. you can't save everyone...
there should be safety nets... and even with those, you still can't save everyone

The WC CDC which rejected their application for help in the first instance shld be shooted 2 death!!!!
The schools Principals should also to be blamed for laking the sight of telling tailes when the deceased childern cant afford 2 pay school fees 4 very months!!!
With the electricity n water bills of S$ 1ooo plus and the 4 moths unemployment composed.
Alls the above lead to a life lost in Spore which in my view shd not be happening in Spore.
How to prevent a similiar tragedy???

i feel that the govt should not just send out arrear reminders to household that are months behind for their bills, instead, they should send social workers(PROACTIVE) to check out on the actual situation of the families.
This incident could have been avoided if the source of problem is nipped in its bud.
Keep saying various forms of aid and help(PASSIVE) are available does not help.

Doesn't mean that if one studies, one has a bright future. Just look at diploma holders today in S'pore, most are stuggling to start a family.Originally posted by oxford mushroom:How to prevent this?
His wife revealed the answer in an interview:
"But Madam Lim knows she cannot always depend on the kindness of others.
When asked if her sons will continue schooling, she said: 'Yes, they will.
'I don't want them to end up like their father. If they don't study, they will have a hard journey in front of them.'

Yes. Agree. Their local construction worker are highly valued in own oversea countries especially in the West . They are considered it a career which they are proud to be,even though they don't have a degree. For Singaporean, I think almost all of us can hae at least a degree, just throw a stone on the street.Originally posted by foomwee88:Not only diploma holders only, a guy reported on the news recently with a master degree has to do a year contract work in NEA for S$5 per hour.
I really cant under the employment rate claimed by our learned gov!!!! I think their statistics doesnot reflect the true fact of unemployed ppls in Spore!!!
If u had been to the first world countries in the west,u will know education level is not important to be employed but a skill in hand will definitely help. In addition, handyman makes more $ than an Uni graduate!!!
