If you can convince Singapore to accept the jurisdiction of the ICJ in this matter, and subsequently secure a standing legal order to halt the execution by the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights under the said and accepted argument that the death penalty is barbaric and unconstitutional due to its mandatory nature.Originally posted by missqi:President alr say no.

If u r the judge, would u want ah-how to die? OR just serve his sentence in jail for life?Originally posted by LazerLordz:If you can convince Singapore to accept the jurisdiction of the ICJ in this matter, and subsequently secure a standing legal order to halt the execution by the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights under the said and accepted argument that the death penalty is barbaric and unconstitutional due to its mandatory nature.
Do not to mention also, you have to make a case that the mandatory death sentence shifts and removes a large element of having to prove actual guilt and to concur that this case was not a fair case since the onus of prosecution was said to be diluted.
If you can acheive these two aims, Took will have a fair chance to live. But as long as the commutation policy for capital sentences is decided by the Cabinet, I'd place a bigger wager in the state lottery.
This is one reason why mandatory punishments have to be struck off, we cannot allow Parliament and the Cabinet to pass sentence indirectly by virtue of effect of a Bill tabled into law without the Judiciary's discretionary powers to say yes or no.
Personally, I would not sentence him to death. After all, the case, in my opinion, is suspicious, but sadly we do not have an extradition treaty with China.Originally posted by bryanseb:If u r the judge, would u want ah-how to die? OR just serve his sentence in jail for life?

I believe his case has a lot of leaks.Originally posted by Fatum:why ? .. what's the big fuss here ? ...
is it because you guys are against the death penalty for a child murderer, or you guys don't believe he's guilty ? ...

First leak, how can Took be allowed to work in Singapore when he does have a mental illness. His family is based in Malaysia and yet Took is coming to work in Singapore alone.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I believe his case has a lot of leaks.
To Tok, maybe. To others, like a psychotic epsiode.Originally posted by Herzog_Zwei:First leak, how can Took be allowed to work in Singapore when he does have a mental illness. His family is based in Malaysia and yet Took is coming to work in Singapore alone.
Second, if Took really does have a schizophrenic disorder, why does it come up at the purported time of Huang Na's death? Was there any trigger for such a psychotic episode?
I agree with campboy.Originally posted by mhcampboy:like wad LL mentioned .... case is kinda vague...
