I'm sure there's going to be somebody who's been here for a short holiday who would disagree with me, but nope and nope.Originally posted by kaister:What about racism in other countries? And their crime rates?
Short holiday? I've been overseas for more than 6 years...Originally posted by Gedanken:I'm sure there's going to be somebody who's been here for a short holiday who would disagree with me, but nope and nope.
where have you been over hte last 6 years?Originally posted by kaister:Short holiday? I've been overseas for more than 6 years...
The feeling is different and you get treated like second class citizens. My house got broke into twice in the same year and I've got burglar alarm installed.
How about people walking around with guns? At least you don't have to worry about that in Singapore.
seriously, who say u dun have to worri about people walking around with guns in sg?? u look at those in blue? i am very very worried lor...Originally posted by kaister:Short holiday? I've been overseas for more than 6 years...

you have to remember you're speaking to a singaporean...Originally posted by Gedanken:Kaister, if you have indeed been treated as a second class citizen for six years, wouldn't you be feeling kind of foolish for sticking around for so long? Eh you are Hakka? Same with ME!!!Originally posted by justcooler:left singapore for australia 1 1/2 year ago,
Reason for leaving, continuation of my immigration heritage (i am a Hakka)
Grandfather migrate from China to Malaysia, then my father from malaysia to singapore, now i am continuing the suit. I seem that we are going south all the time. May my next generation will go southpole
This bring back to the issue of Quitters. Most of the Chinese in singapore are migrants from china, come to singapore to seek for a better quality of life. the 2nd and 3rd gen are just following the suit of our forefather. So why are we been branded Quitters.
Just because we wanted to look for a better way of life for our future generations ?
Even all the top sits decision makers have forefathers that are quitters .... from china perspectives.
Most of us that migrate from sg knows that we can have a better prospective outside of singapore. And in Aus i found what i am looking for
1) personal space and time
2) Outback
3) Landed property
4) Much better quality of life (much better air quality)
the list just keeps going on....
though there are some issues that worries you.
Nomood, that's australia you're talking about. People there are less uptight. There's a huge population of Asian immigrants there. Similar comparison cannot be made for every other place on earth.Originally posted by Gedanken:Spot-on, nomood. You don't even need to pick up a slang or anything of the sort to get along - all you have to do is not shut people out. People only become second-class citizens in their own minds.

Mind you, my place in Singapore got broken into, so by your measure, what's so safe about Singapore?
I was just giving a personal example of how unsafe the place I'm in. In the local suburb papers, there's an average of 5 breakins per week. Try to get that sort of number in Singapore.Originally posted by Gedanken:Mind you, my place in Singapore got broken into, so by your measure, what's so safe about Singapore?
Sigh... is it general consensus that people who migrate are better off than those who stayed?Originally posted by nomood:you have to remember you're speaking to a singaporean...
I think I rather quit and speak up for all I want lor. Keeping things for too long is not good one.Originally posted by kaister:Sigh... is it general consensus that people who migrate are better off than those who stayed?
Singaporeans are not known for speaking up but at least they are survivors of their own right.
Yes, not being able to speak up can be one of the hardest thing to do. Especially under such an oppressive government.Originally posted by Hogzilla:I think I rather quit and speak up for all I want lor. Keeping things for too long is not good one.
Maybe think of ways to survive under the MRT railway tracks? Sorry, I'm not a stuntman and neither am I interested in becoming one.
no. at no point did i suggest that.Originally posted by kaister:Sigh... is it general consensus that people who migrate are better off than those who stayed?
