We need racetrack, not casino

Gov always say that casino is only a small portion of IR. Whatever that means, can I ask if the IR operators cannot have casino in their plan, will they bid for the IRs?
Our highly regarded papers today mentioned that Johore will have a F1 racetrack and planning is now on the way.
I want a F1 standard racetrack, not a world class casino. -

We don't need a racetrack or casino, we need to be able to draw money from our CPF when we really need it.

many f1 race tracks have many smaller races in the year. they r not well publicised so u may not be aware of it. they are also loaned out for car tests, private or corporate events, etc. they can be self sustaining.
and dun forget, the 1 big race it has can potentially generate economic returns that far exceed what it contributes purely on the race track.
btw, i am not exactly supportive of sg having a race track, nor do i think sgp has the guts to build one....

How many people go to the race track and how much can you earn from it? How many jobs can it create and how much tax revenue will it generate? Casino will obviously be the better choice economically.

Kinda sucks when you realise that the people at the top only seem to be following the flavor of the month in terms of new ideas.
From casinoes to F1, they are just blindly following what other countries are already doing.
Even they admit it themselves, they keep citing other countries having this or that and they use it as a reason to start the same thing 'in case Singapore gets left behind'.
If dog or camel racing ever caught on in the South East Asia, you can bet that they will decide to build a dog or camel racecourse somewhere in Singapore too.

That's exactly right...you can still bet on racing events without having a racetrack in Singapore. The main reason is we need a hero, like Senna is for Brazil. For auto racing, you do not need to be 6ft tall, etc etc.
We spent so much on Sports.....MERIT sports like swimming, table tennis etc.
These sports will never be able to generate a huge following like F1. So far, have we gain anything financially from these sports? -
