There is a saying in Chinese, "bi3 shang4 bu4 zu2, bi3 xia4 you3 yu2", meaning not good enough for the best, too good for the bad. I think that's the situation of our govt.Originally posted by BillyBong:Why is the govt so quick to trump up accolytes claiming 'least-corrupt' or 'corruption free' in Asia?
If Singapore were placed in a ranking exercise with global nations, one wonders what our position would be?
What are our standards against the likes of Switzerland, Sweden, Finland, New Zealand and even tiny Luxembourg?
What's the use of repeatedly ranking us against the rest of Asia? It's like smelling of rotten eggs and comparing against 1000-year-old jackfruits.

Not so sure about the rest lar, but in terms of corruption, New Zealand has its problem here too. Recently there's a case here where the ruling party used about 400,000 of unauthorised money for election campaign and was found out by the Auditor General and the opposition. So the ruling party threaten to past a retrospective law to make it legal to use the money if the Auditor General doesn't back down. The major opposition party also takes huge sum of money from various religious groups. Also the same opposition party way exceeded his allocated funds for election campaign advertisment because the leader forgot to factor in GST.Originally posted by BillyBong:Why is the govt so quick to trump up accolytes claiming 'least-corrupt' or 'corruption free' in Asia?
