I feel that this development is extremely disturbing. Can harsh language alone be a valid reason, even if only a partial one, to oust someone from political arena? We do not even know the context in which the words "scheming" and "lacking integrity" were used. For all we know, he was expressing an ethical opinon the vast majority would agree with.
Goh Meng Seng ought to be judged much more on the merit of his words, than the political correctness of the delivery. This, i feel, is a hallmark of mature dialogue in a truly robust and participatory civic society. -

It is possible that with the MDA's stand on podcasting and political issues, WP prefers not to get itself caught in potential timebombs which may result in legal tussles with members of the ruling party. No alternative wants to end up like the SDP, especially since WP is aiming to become a credible alternative to the Ruling party. But tying your own hands is like caging a bird. Some people cannot agree or accept it so they leave. -
The other side of the double-edged sword. Then they will always have to play in the MIW's court because the latter crafts policies according to their manifesto/belief/attitude.

Nothing wrong if they behave in a courteous manner towards those who hold differing views and all their statements are fair and accurate. Any WP leader who makes a statement here will be construed as speaking on behalf of the party. If they make comments that misrepresents their party, the WP will have to pick up the tab. If they make defamatory remarks here, the WP carries vicarious liability and can be sued.
Essentially, the WP leadership cannot trust these two to be responsible spokesmen of their party in Sgforum and the like. -
It's still safer to stick to posting blogs, and if anyone shares differing views from yours, sue him for intrusion of privacy. Doesn't apply to everyone.

Incidentially, while I admire Chia's passion for change, he has to project more self control and not portray to be a loose canon. I read his posting in other forums including this one and I'm not impressed. That is, if they were his postings. -
