one thing i remind the government, most decent business would not raise price beyond the 7% only the hawker would the most likely the one who are the one to raise the price beyond the 7%. You see noodle going out from 2.50 to 3.00 , 3.00 - 3.50 etc.

20% + 16.6% = 36.6% but instead of 7%-3%= 4%.
So 36.6%-4%= 32.6% is the shop themself increase one, and the reason is bullshit. -
67,000 Singaporeans fail to sign up for Progress Package payouts

SINGAPORE: As at the end of last year, 67,000 Singaporeans or 3 percent of those eligible had not signed up for their Progress Package payouts, leading to S$49m going unclaimed out of the total $2.2b set aside.
Since details of the Progress Package were announced, there had been extensive publicity to get people to sign up and collect the money.
However, by the middle of last year about 19,000 Singaporeans who lived in 1 to 3-room flats had not collected their money, prompting grassroots leaders to go out and visit them personally.
This led to a 20 percent improvement in take-up rate among this group by year-end.
When asked, the Finance Ministry told Channel NewsAsia there could be a number of reasons people did not sign up for the packages. For example, their contact details may not have been updated, they are living overseas or they simply could not be bothered to sign up.
They added that the majority of those who did not sign up for their packages are living in private properties.
As sufficient notice was given and reminder letters sent out in November, the Finance Ministry says the scheme is now closed.
But that appeals may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

As all those complaint keep coming, there is little Sickaporean can do.
The ppl don't have the influence on these issue, whether is GST,COE or ERP, they just control it without much problem coming from the ppl. What the ppl can do is to save, save and save, it's the only way whether u earn 2k or 20k.
You never know what will happen next. -

I think it benefit their own pockets and certain amount gone back to reserve.
This is all I can think of.
If they claimed that tomasick's investments returns are so good........why its average return is only 9.2 percent per annum?.........., Why the hell, utilities bills, transportation fares, govt services, taxes and etc keep going up?
Logically.....if a nation have big national reserves for investments...isn't it the intention is to lighten burdens for its people?
On top of that, not forgetting that our taxes revenue collections had supluses almost every year.
Over pricing of land costs is the ultimate killings. Land costs were all controlled by giant land ''owners'' from GLC and SLA.

After giving out the progress package before election, they have the cheek to increase GST, saying "there is no free lunch" ha! What a joke.
What about wanting Singaporeans to take medicine? Didnt they paint a rosy scenario for 2007? Stop comparing Singapore with some other countries with high GST BECAUSE their government is not in business. Unlike Singapore govt which have businesses from public transport to banking, from properties to defence industries, from energy to ports etc. And what about our mandatory CPF savings, what did they do with it??
And many of these businesses are in near monopoly guaranteeing profits! -

Malboroh Tan says that GST hikes is needed for growth to help build Sillyapore infrastructures, like new roads, bridges and key infractures.
I may be wondering, what do the national reserve and those GLCs surplus cash for and why we need to use GST to pay for such infrastrutures. Is this a silly reason by the PAPPY.
1. LHL says that GST is needed to help the POOR.
2. MM LKY says that GST is to offset the 1% corporate tas cut to stay competitive.
3. And now the Mah Mah says that GST is needed to build roads, bridges and etc.
Who is telling the truth and what are the real reasons to implement GST. Can PAP answer me.
Why our so called Opposition party, like LOW and Chiam, and Silvia does not raises these questions in parliment.
Is there some fishy business in implementing GST and what are the real reasons?. Can any MIW answer to the general public honestly.

The moment they first introduced GST and a lot of policy involved sucking more and more money, they are already corrupted. They pretend to be pure by wearing white but inside is dark and black. Just like Durai. Pretend to be angel but is a Satan reborn. If they are helping the poor, why more and more poor people not getting the help they needed. But instead rich people is getting more money.

What is GST ?
Very simply,GST is to make majority pay for fat profits to corporates and highly paid professional, because of their greed drive them to choose singapore, among hong kong and shanghai, as their operation base or place to work.
If you are still working, your choices are: whether want to part your money as usual, to spend less, or to spend in JB and some say in Batam.
If you are not working, no luck in 4D that is literally means transferng your saving to the pocket of these minority. If worst come to the worst, your might need to consider living in JB and some say in Batam.
Why can't the garman spend less, not to purchase pricey stuffs, in order to absord the would-be GST gain. -

This is from the internet and it's really interesting. Even if you change the figures, the fact still remains as the Rich get Richer and the Poor gets Poorer.
Example 1
In 2006, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $60,000 , the income tax you need to pay is $2,700 (8.75%). If you spend $800 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 5% will be $480 Total=$3,180 in Tax paid.
In 2007, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $60,000, the income tax you need to pay is $2,600 (8.50%). If you spend $800 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 7% will be $672 Total=$3,272 in Tax paid.
From $3,180 to $3,272, the effective increase is 2.89%.
Example 2
In 2006, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $400,000 , the income tax you need to pay is $61,650 (21%). If you spend $4,000 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 5% will be $2,400 Total=$64,050 in Tax paid.
In 2007, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $400,000, the income tax you need to pay is $58,700 (20%). If you spend $4,000 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 7% will be $3,360 Total=$62,060 in Tax paid.
From $64,050 to $62,060, the effective decrease is -3.11% .
Example 3
In 2006, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $25,000 , the income tax you need to pay is $187.50 (3.75%). If you spend $800 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 5% will be $480 Total=$667.50 in Tax paid.
In 2007, if after rebates etc and your net taxable income is $25,000, the income tax you need to pay is $175 (3.5%). If you spend $800 a month on needed goods and services, the GST paid for 7% will be $672 Total=$847 in Tax paid.
From $667.50 to $847, the effective increase is 26.89% .
