Yes agree. We are different from the Hong Konger, Taiwanese and the Korean. They are good at expressing themselves. I salute to them.Originally posted by darknessfall:you see, singaporeans are too kia-see....
if people are unhappy about the policy in overseas, you will see them parading in large group.
In singapore, we deemed ourselves too educated to be doing such stuffs, and we are all afraid that our future will be ruined if we join in such activities and get caught by the police.
The govt obviously know that, and since they know no rioting or any big scale demonstration will take place, they can happily and peacefully do whatever they want/like.
Who dare to stand up and organise a demonstration? And even if there is one, will you dare to join??? Who dare?
frankly speaking, i will not dare to join..The useless union we have here, are all "govt" agencies..no use at all..
sigh..
I am living there nowOriginally posted by TYING:e.g. A part of Hougang belongs to Aljunied GRC when Aljunied is like miles away. Reason: Hougang GRC is being dominated by the workers party thus they cannot afford to lose. Thats why they combine this two areas together.

I really hope i am in Taiwan, Hong Kong, where i can walk out to the streets to demostrate my anger!Originally posted by Meilin86:Yes agree. We are different from the Hong Konger, Taiwanese and the Korean. They are good at expressing themselves. I salute to them.
I think it will be harder for the younger generation to "express" themselves, probably to the textbook which brainwash them.
I hate studying social studies in secondary school.

Infact, a large part of Hougang is now under PAP...only a small part is WP. Oh ya, its Hougang SMC not GRC. Loool

The opposition parties.... They "shoot" the PAP.... They criticize PAP's policies and style of governing.... Everything they say feels so close to the hearts of the average Singaporean... but why aren't they getting the majority of the votes?
Because they failed to win over the hearts of Singaporeans who paused a while to think... "So what if you raised all the problems and difficulties of Singapore citizens? We also know what we are going through now... What we want is solutions! Credible and feasible solutions! No blabbering of nonsense.... No promises that are simply impossible to achieve!"
The opposition has touched the hearts of many by raising out the current problems that we face... but they lack the solutions to win over the majority of the votes...

slowly? we are already in the system!Originally posted by adven7:Wanted to cast my vote for opposition but my area walkover. It is not a matter of not grateful, but to balance the power in the politic arena. As can be seem, Singapore is slowly being transformed into ancient Emperor system, the people are slave to the ruling party and not the other way around.
My fren.. for a start, we do not need opposition to put forward any solutions.. what we urgently need now is 'Check and balance'. Without the necessary opposition to 'check' our government, the power of one has absolute authority to implement any policies they want! (GST, GLCs, Fat pays etc..)Originally posted by kheldorin:The problem is that the opposition does not put forward their own solution or their own plan. Maybe they do but people are not aware. So people perceive that they can't seem to stand on their own without the PAP. They have to leverage on PAP's mistakes and unpopularity instead of their own ability. They have to do better than that if they really wanna beat the PAP.
Originally posted by freakass:Well.. 'shooting' out at PAP's mistakes and lousy policies is every opposition's job! We dun need a yes sir opposition!

We need far more checks than the current 3 opposition figures.Originally posted by siaokao:My fren.. for a start, we do not need opposition to put forward any solutions.. what we urgently need now is 'Check and balance'. I will not say they depends on PAP's mistakes and unpopularity, they are actually doing their job by exposing PAP's mistakes and their unpopular policies. True, we can do the same on forums, but without anyone in parliament, our posts will say as just, internet posting.
Can.. protest here lo..Originally posted by goaler:I really hope i am in Taiwan, Hong Kong, where i can walk out to the streets to demostrate my anger!
