Enough to last 10 retirements.Originally posted by charlize:Now why in the world would he need CPF for?
Don't tell me his annual million dollar salary is not enough for his retirement needs.

What are you trying to say?
Let's assume that the PM spent half of his salary a year, he will be a millionaire in two years time. If a average minister also spent half of his salary per year, he will be a millionaire in three years. Besides, we must know that PM is also the current Finance Minister, so he is drawing about USD 2 million (rounded up) per year. Don't forget that various minister is holding directorship of some companies as well, do you really think that they are holding these directorship for free?
The leader of a country with 4++ million people hold a salary five times of a leader of a country with 300+ million. Then some Singaporean minister said that some qualities, of those who commit themselves to public service, could not be bought using money. Compare this statement with PM Lee's statement of why they are drawing such a high pay, (so that they won't be corrupted) if they have the intention of serving the citizen, shouldn't they have the invaluable quality of incorruptable too? If they are incorruptable, why should they draw such a high pay?

And she even reasoned that if you don't want to be seen as corrupt, you make it legal.
Anybody can remember where this blog or post came from?

Why....????
Do you get bothered when you read about some CEO like some company or whatever rich man is earning how much money each year?
Why should you get bothered about those stuff?
Jealous?
Im just trying to understand really.
Because I find it very hard to understand.
How much money will make you all feel happy? When the salary is lower than the salary of US officials? Or how?
I find this issue a bit strange.
Some people comparing Singapore officials salary to US officials salary......why should you? Why should you do that?
Why cant you have a better system where the people are renumerated much better? Why cant you be the bechmark setter? Why cant you have the highest salary?
Why????
So how much money will make you feel happy? When the salary of public officials is much much lower than private sector employees?
You like to take the salaries of Ministers and compare them to other countries, but you forget the salaries of police sargeants and school teachers and compare them to other countries too.
Here in Singapore, civil service is well managed, everyone is well paid, from the ministers down to the police sargeants and school teachers. And you know that is precisely one of the main pillars why Singapore can be like it is today.
Please get it into your head and start to accept this reality. Please dont keep turning it like it's a bad thing instead. That is a total pity.
Because its hard to understand that an annual ministers' salary can be 2-3 times that of a most powerful man in the world. maybe you can explain why since you seem to 'understand' better than most of us here?Originally posted by #$%^&*:Does this kinda thing really bother you all?

Lets not bring police seargeants and school teachers...cos even if they are well payed..brader..(or is it sister?) Their cost of living they have to bear is ultimately high...plus with the governments new scheme to take away medical benefits from civil servants...(yes you have to pay part of it though discounted still hefty)... it goes up....now there is even some laying off of personnel in civil service, even these guys struggle to face the living costsOriginally posted by #$%^&*:Does this kinda thing really bother you all?
